• Operates and monitors Distributed Control System (DCS) for gas plants to insure safe and efficient operation and to ensure production targets are met in terms of quality and quantity
• Adjust temperature, pressure, vacuum, level, flow rate, and/or transfer of gas to maintain processes at required levels or to correct problems.
• Calculate gas ratios to detect deviations from specifications, using testing apparatus.
• Control equipment to regulate flow and pressure of gas to feed lines of boilers, furnaces, and related steam-generating or heating equipment. Start and shut down plant equipment.
• Record, review, and compile operations records, test results, and gauge readings such as temperatures, pressures, concentrations, and flows.
• Monitors via terminals and alarms, the operations of the designated area and coordinates process activities. Includes continuous monitoring of instruments and equipment, making field adjustments according to process parameters as required.
September 2005 to June 2007: Senior Operator
• Monitoring and controlling the systems and equipment that take gas from its natural state and convert it into a useable product.
• Assisting rover operators in solving problems, assuring the safety of others in their areas.
• Follow the instructions of the Panel Operator and Supervisor.
• Perform all local isolations for equipment to be out for maintenance as Permit to Work.
• Prior to start up, carry out all pre-start up checks and start up checks.
• Assist in training new operators.
July 2000 to September 2005: Rover Operator
• Adjust temperature, pressure, vacuum, level, flow rate, and/or transfer of gas to maintain processes at required levels or to correct problems.
• Clean, maintain, and repair equipment, using hand tools, or request that repair and maintenance work be performed.
• Collaborate with other operators to solve unit problems.
• Starting up and shutting down plant equipment
• Monitors equipment functioning, observes temperature, level, and flow gauges, and performs regular unit checks, in order to ensure that all equipment is operating as it should.
