Dear Sir/Madam
I am asking for advice and assistance in communicating the information.
I would like to apply for the post of DENTIST or Lecturer at ANY College in Brazil in the next academic year and I enclose a full “curriculum vitae” I feel that I have the right relevant experience to teach from the years that I accumulated as a teacher at Federal University in Brazil, from my experience of managing a Public Health Project in the municipality of Niteroi in the city of Rio de Janeiro and running my own private dental clinic in Campinas, São Paulo. I believe that I am in a good position to pass on both the principles and the practice of these activities to your students, so I am very interested in the possibility of contributing to your educational programme and to the social welfare of my country, Brazil.
I look forward to hearing from you, and I would be happy to supply any further information if it is required.
Sincerely,
Curriculum Vitae
2009-2007 Living in Muscat, Sultanate of Oman
2006-2005 English Language student at Exeter Academy School of English, Exeter, Devon, UK
2005-1992 Dental Surgeon in a private independent dental practice employing a holistic approach for children, adults and elderly people, in Barão Geraldo near UNICAMP (Universidade of Campinas, São Paulo, Brazil).
C.R.O.-SP (Conselho Regional de Odontologia de São Paulo) no. 48 144, 23rd September 1993 until now.
Holistic buccal health is not itself a method of treatment but an approach which focuses on the cause. This means minimising the impact of oral manifestations on general diseases in individuals through early diagnosis, prevention and effective management of systemic diseases.
The holistic approach brings balance and harmony to the entire oral structure by paying attention to the whole person. The symptoms are analyzed to identify the existing problem/s that are affecting the parts and then treated with the whole-being in mind, rather than treating only the parts that exhibit the symptoms. Each system is interdependent upon the other.
1994-92
Lecturer at the Federal University of São Paulo, Escola Paulista de Medicina, São Paulo, Brazil.
Department of Preventative Medicine for Medical Students in the 5th year of their undergraduate course.
Course Subject: Oral Medicine - oral manifestations of diseases.
1992-1984
Lecturer at the Federal Fluminense University in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil , Department of Community Health, Faculty of Medicine, work card no. 42.325 series 563/RJ, process no. 6604/84-3 .
Part-time Visiting Lecturer .
Full-time Visiting Lecturer. Assistant Level II.
Assistant Level IV.
Courses Subject:
-Epidemiology in Odontology
Biostatistics as basic for Epidemiology
Etiology and Epidemiology of Dental Caries and its consequences.
Dental caries, caries diagnosis, Fluoride, Planning Fluoride Treatment, Fissure sealants, Sugar, Diet.
Dental Health Education
-Integrated Clinic I, Integrated Clinic II (Community Dentistry: Social and Preventative Odontology):
Integration between postgraduate and undergraduate students planning educational, preventative and restorative actions in schools where communities were involved. Oral health as an integral part of general health was prioritized. Most oral disease is preventable so we aimed to achieve co-operation between all individuals, families, teachers in regulated public schools, professionals, the University and companies like Johnson`s and Johnsons, UniLever , Colgate .
It was also essential to use the media in oral health education for adoption of positive attitudes by society and dissemination of accurate information to support initiatives to improve access. A close collaboration between professionals, auxiliaries, allied health professionals, appropriate non-dental personnel (e.G. Primary Health Care Workers), teachers and health education personnel, locally, regionally and at University levels enhanced access to appropriate and affordable oral health care. The involvement of the community in all levels of planning was essential. The ‘Incremental System’ was followed in interventional dentistry.
1984-1977: Manager of Public Programme in Social Dentistry in the Municipality of Niterói, R.J.
Social Dentist: planned, targeted and monitored community dentistry programme for the municipality of Niterói, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil C.R.O. –RJ (Conselho Regional de Odontologia do Rio de Janeiro) No. 7542, 01/12/1976
Method: Random sampling was used to select children aged 7-12 years old who were enrolled in public schools. Clinical examinations for caries were conducted by a single examiner using WHO criteria. Parents completed questionnaires seeking information on socioeconomic background, oral hygiene and dietary practices, fluoride use, and dental service utilization. Logistic regression modelling was used to identify risk markers and risk indicators for caries prevalence.
A multi professional team and the involvement of the community was necessary in all levels of planning and provision for their general health and also oral care needs. In Niteroi, the continuous success of the Programme up to now presents a significant challenge to oral health policy makers. The dominant preventive approach in dentistry, i.E. Focusing on changing the behaviours of high-risk individuals, has effectively reduced oral health diseases.
