As a the Team Leader I was to take charge of a 12 man team in order to protect a Helicopter landing platform from terrorist’s to enable safe landings of cargo for disaster relief area. To achieve this aim I had to detail my team using my professional knowledge based on their skills to find the best, safe and most suitable places in order to set up a perimeter around a small area so that essentials and human aid could be delivered in a safe environment.
Boarding Operations:
It was of paramount importance that the team I was to take charge of was briefed fully on the description of vessels and details of what they might be carrying, which we had acquired through intelligence. As we proceeded to investigate I was able to keep the team calm but focused on what the mission aims where. As successful as the intelligence gathered we managed to strip numerous vessels and stop drug running on the coast of OMAN and had one very successful drug bust exceeding a street value of £23,000,000.
As Naval Range Supervisor:
Responsible for the health and safety aspects and the well being of up to 100 junior rates. Instructing in posture, breathing and techniques required for good marksmanship.
As Weapon Supervisor:
Responsible for the training of up to 30 ratings within the department, to co-ordinate their continuation training onboard, including monitoring and assessing progress.
The smooth running of weapons and ballistic calibration, for the protection of the ship and safety of the company.
Administration: HM Forces I have prepared detailed reports of the organization capabilities, also having to plan in-depth briefing’s to the Commanding Officer, having relaying that information to senior command, in a clear concise format.
I have also been responsible for reporting defects; ensuring repairs are completed within the operational requirements of the ship.
