Responsibilities:
• Here I attend both indoor (General Paediatric & Neonatal ward) and outdoor patients. During ward round evaluate individual patient very carefully, go through proper management, discharge with advice, and asked for next follow up. After completed ward round, I attend outdoor patients and treat common paediatric problems exclude congenital problems, surgical problems and evaluate preventive diseases.
• Beside all sort of clinical work and special maneuver I attend in different health care program under Ministry of Health; especially I work with EPI in Polio eradication program. Numbers of polio patients are remarkable then I have to communicate regularly with Public Health department of Ministry of Health. There are also many cases of Measles, among most of them did not receive measles vaccine. This hospital is a free hospital run by state government and this type of program usually start from the outdoor of that hospital. Polio is still a major problem of that country; we found almost 5-6 cases in a month and that’s why different UN organization like Who, Unicef are working to eradicate polio from Nigeria under the name “Kick Polio Out from Nigeria”.

1 Patient receiving, history taking, & management plan.
2 Conducted daily rounds in General Pediatric ward and in Neonatal ward with respective consultant.
3 Monitored progress of admitted patients and referred cases.
4 Regular attended in O.T in every Cesarean Section to manage newborn baby with any acute crisis, immediate Intubations if required, also managed normally born baby.
5 In NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit) with special interest, experienced to Intubate the baby & Ventilator Set up if required.
6 Conducted parenteral medication, lumber puncture in recommended cases & Umbilical Catheterization & Exchange Transfusion in recommended neonatal cases.
7 I experienced a wide range of patients in inpatient department and most of my work consisted of providing continuous care and counseling.
• Type of patient usually deals in ward: RTI (common patient are of Bronchiolities, Bronchopneumonia with/without heart disease, Childhood asthma, PTB); AcuteGastroenterities with mild to severe dehydration & metabolic changes; Intussusceptions, Acute/Sub acute I/O; Viral Hepatitis; Pt. Of Diabetic Ketoacidosis; Enteric Fever with or without complications; Febrile convulsion; Meningitis (viral/bacterial) (we do bed side L.P in recommended case); Viral Encephalitis, Seizure disorder (Epilepsy), C.P; UTI, AGN & Nephrotic/Nephritic Syndrome, HUS, ARF cases are common; Thalassemia, ITP, HSP; PEM with complication. Shock Pt. (Hypovolumic, Hemorrhagic), DSS (Dengue Shock Syndrome).
• In Neonatal Ward & in NICU:
With special interest in neonate, I manage a variety of neonatal patient, these are: Premature & LBW baby, IUGR, Sever Perinatal asphyxia, Neonatal Meningitis, Septicemia, NEC, Neonatal Seizures (Including management of metabolic disorders like Neonatal Hypoglycemia, Hypocalcaemia, Hypokalamia,) Infant of Diabetic Mother, APNEA, Neonate with Respiratory distress (Congenital Pneumonia, Congenital Heart Diseases), Meconium Aspiration Syndrome, Esophageal atresia & Tracheo-Oesophageal Fistula, Neonatal Jaundice (I do exchange transfusion with standard protocol if need), Hemorrhagic Disease of the Newborn.
I usually faced and can manage above-mentioned cases in ward confidently.
Outpatient department: Attended outdoor thrice weekly to see outdoor patient where I evaluated, assessed and treated patients and provided medical emergency care if needed and referred any admissible case to indoor. Conducted vaccination program and attended in EPI program routinely.
