| Work History & Experience: |
| Years of Work Experience: |
More than 15 Years |
1987 – 1989 Airport Pharmacy
Shareholder / Pharmacist
Bought a 14% share in Airport Pharmacy. Turnover was
R17 000 per month.
1989 – 1997 Delmas / Airport Pharmacy
Owner
Sold all interests in Delmas and obtained all the shares in Airport Pharmacy. Turnover increased from R89 000 to
R450 000 per month. The turnover from Airport Pharmacy has been increased by 20%, annually compounded. Compared to the inflation rate, the growth rate exceeds the inflation rate by 150%.
1997 – 2000
Airport Pharmacy was the retail business in the Domestic side of Johannesburg International Airport with the highest growth, i.e. 32% in turnover for this period. The percentage, 32%, represents the growth for the 1997 – 1998 financial year. The premises at the airport is awarded by a tender process. The 2000 tender rental increased by 300% and this affected the economic viability of the pharmacy. As a consequence of this I decided not to compete in the tender.
Note 2003 : The company that won the tender has gone into liquidation and the pharmacy turnover has dropped by 55% during the tender period. They did not manage to realize a profit during the entire tender period.
2000 – 2002
Owner
I started a Pharmaceutical wholesaler that specializes in natural
Products. The turn towards natural products is a growing trend
And I am well positioned at the moment to capitalize on this.
This turned out to be a total fiasco as the concept was too early for its time in South Africa. This severely challenged us financially but the skills and experience gained from 15 years in business are intact.
2001 -
I have operated as a locum tenens for the past 2 years and have worked in retail pharmacies and Private Hospitals.
Nov2002 – October 2003
I have managed Sunward Park Pharmacy and have been instrumental in turning the business around financially. Turnover increased from 720k / month to 960k/month in 10 months. This is an annualized increase of 40% . Stockholding decreased from 1 800k to 800k . Stockturn increased from 4 to 13 per year which obviously had a major positive effect on cashflow and profitability .
May 2004 – November 2006
I owned Brabazon rd Pharmacy in Kempton Park . Pharmacy registration number Y52201
This business I used as a steppingstone to buy 8 properties up to September 2006. The properties generate a passive income of R40 000 monthly at the moment.
November 2006 – July 2009
I bought a 50% shareholding in Sun City Pharmacy in the Sun City Resort. At the time the pharmacy was a financial disaster. The business was losing about R50 000 monthly and the management at the time was unable to solve the problem.Working as a team my wife Tebra and I took about 12 months to solve the problem. The business was being robbed from the inside and 95% on the staff were involved.
We dismissed all members of the syndicate and within 12 months the business had a gross profit of 50% and a average net profit of 18% monthly. This turned the business into a strong cash generator.
As often happens when the cash started rolling the silent partner called up his loan account which forced us to sell our shares.
This was a good investment while it lasted. We were able to sell our shares to our non-pharmacist partner at a premium.
December 2008 to date
I bought into a franchise business called SalesPartners. This is a B quadrant business and will take about 5-7 years to develop.
