Brief Personal History
With my hands-on experience and constantly outstanding performance as a Restaurant Manager, I was promoted to Area Manager of Pizza Hut Singapore in 1991.
As Area Manager, I managed the operations and business of the restaurants. I was responsible for achieving sales, costs and service targets. I conducted local store marketing to increase and achieve sales target. I also conducted monthly audit checks at the restaurants to ensure compliance to cash control policy. I provided training courses to restaurant managers to achieve service targets. In my two years as Area Manager with KFC, I was involved in the recruitment programs for the whole KFC system in Sri Lanka and Malaysia.
Working under tight and demanding schedules did not stop me to participate actively in organizing company’s functions and recreational activities. I was in the organizing committee for the company’s 1999 and 2000 Annual Dinner. I was in-charged of food and beverages. I was also the Team Manager for Tricon Football Club leading the team in the Singapore Business Houses League Division III. Winning the Division III League title and runner-up for the Junior Knock-out Competition, the Team was promoted to Division II.
As Operations Manger with A & W Restaurants Singapore, I implemented the Home delivery Service Program. Based on previous experience in developing and implementing Home Delivery Service in Pizza Hut, I successfully developed and implemented the Home Delivery Service for A & W Restaurants. I had enhanced the training programs and the administration of the restaurants. I conducted feasibility studies of restaurants viability and recommended the appropriate actions to the Country Manager. I was also responsible for the recruitment of restaurant managers and staff from local sources as well as from Indonesia.
As Director of Operations with Planet Treats Malaysia Sdn Bhd (a holding company for Dairy Queen & Orange Julius), I was responsible for the opening of the world’s famous brands in Malaysia. I liaised with franchisor on details of agreement, development fees, policy adherence and development of training courses for restaurants opening. Posted to Minneapolis US for a 3-week intensive training covering operations, human resource, marketing and finance. My job also entailed planning and setting up of restaurants, purchasing of equipment and products from the US, Thailand and Singapore, sourcing for suppliers, recruiting, selecting and training of restaurant managers and liaison works with Government and local companies.
As General Manager with Cathay Cineplexes Sdn Bhd, I was responsible for the overall management of cinema business in Malaysia. This involves detailed planning in sales, marketing and promotion and human resource allocation across Malaysia.
