Tesco PLC 1994 – Current
Systems Lead; after Tesco.Com acquired a former Bonded warehouse in early 2008 I was transferred to the site. This promotion saw my area of responsibility grow to manage the Systems and inventory team’s onsite. My focus was on helping ready the site for conversion from an old IT solution (Dallas) to Manhattan. This included planning and organising staff training, both in house and externally; as well as being able to supply the configuration team with relevant information and data to ensure a smooth launch. The conversion was a huge success and my involvement saw me awarded Employee of the month. Since go live, I have been responsible for the configuration of a new storage system for the Tesco Direct. As well as completing the configuration requirements to match the functional flow I have also designed a full UAT plan and staff training. A major part of my duties also involves assessing proposed configuration to ensure it fulfils the operational requirements.
Systems Engineer; with the opening of Tesco Direct in 2006 I took up a new role. My main duties involved responsibility for maintaining the warehouse management system Manhattan, ensuring user acceptance testing was performed and being able to problem solve system issues as they arose. This was an exciting period for me, as it increased my skill set considerably.
The role also required the implementation of changes to Manhattan once the site was operational, and the ability to identify the impact on the operation of suggested changes.
Liaison with outside Contractors was a regular feature of my time with Direct, especially when large configuration projects where being conducted onsite.
Denver Implementation; for a year during 2005 I was seconded to Head Office IT to assist in the opening of Tesco’s then biggest three Depots. This proved to be very successful, enabling me to learn many of the skills required for a new site to succeed.
Stock coordinator; after two years working in systems I transferred to Tesco head office to take up a new role. This promotion led to a lot more responsibility and freedom to make my own decisions. A key area of this role was to liase with external suppliers to resolve any issues rapidly; this required assertiveness and an ability to communicate effectively with people at all levels of responsibility.
Systems Team leader;. The main focus of my duties included planning the volume of work the shift could complete and ensuring members of the systems team were organized in the most effective way to cope with operational demands.
Operations clerk; I began my time with Tesco in the operations office. My main duties involved dealing with customs paperwork relating to goods in loads, monitoring forklifts via remote terminals and various administrative duties.

Nursing assistant; I worked on a behavioural ward with 13 adult men. Although this was a varied and challenging role I chose to leave in order to pursue a more financially rewarding career with Tesco.
British Army March 1988 to January 1992
I served with the 3rd Royal Anglian Anti Tank Platoon in Germany, Canada, France, Spain, Iceland, Ulster and Cyprus. I left the Army when the Battalion was disbanded with an exemplary service record.
