| Learning English has always been "huge" in Taiwan with long-term emphasis on English, massive expansion of higher education, implementation of English programs in the public schools, proliferation of bilingual kindergartens, English ability tests for vocational need, government's action plan for building an English Living Environment and various other factors. Facing the impact of globalization and the changing mode of worldwide competitiveness, many are predicting the next couple of decades will be prime time for English in Taiwan. With the increasing of the English market, pay is getting better and better. The starting salaries are drifting up in the last couple of years. Teaching English in Taiwan has become a lot more promising than it has in the rest of the southeastern Asian countries.
