The product lines are certified to the ISO 9001:2000 quality standard.
Sterling’s acetic acid facility produces 13 percent of the North American capacity and is the sixth largest producer in the world. Acetic acid is used in paints, adhesives, bottles, fibers and surface coatings.
Sterling’s plasticizers facility is one of the largest in North America. Plasticizers are used to make flexible plastics that go into such applications as medical supplies, automotive applications, wire insulation, film for housing and construction, cable insulation and plastic molding.
Safety is the highest priority at Sterling and is a primary responsibility of every employee. Sterling management is committed to providing a safe, healthful and secure environment for the protection of plant personnel and the surrounding community and has worked actively with OSHA to ensure that all government safety standards are met or exceeded. Sterling Chemicals has been recognized for outstanding safety performance by the Texas Chemical Council and the National Petrochemical and Refiners Association.
