Gelato is low fat Italian ice cream. Ours is homemade in Bangkok and Hua-Hin. We hand craft small batches supervised by our Paris-trained chef. It’s all-natural, loaded with real fruit, nuts, aromas and Italian flavors. It is so delicious!
Dream Cones Ltd. main office is in Bangkok, Thailand with distributors in Christchurch New Zealand and Nanjing China.
Our goal is to produce the finest all-natural gelato and sorbet ingredients and finished ice cream. Most of our natural aromas and flavors come from Italy. Our essences come from all over Europe. Our pure Madagascar vanilla, an essential ingredient, is processed in the United States. Our nuts, fruits and essences come from all over the world.
Our retail Thai operations consist of six kiosks and one restaurant plus thirty-eight franchise kiosks in Bangkok, Rayong, Pattaya and several cities in northern Thailand.
We also have manufacturing operations in the Thai cities of Pattaya, Hua-Hin and three in Issan Provence, northern Thailand. The Hua-Hin factory is owned by us. The others are franchisee manufacturers. Dream Cones franchise manufacturers use our ingredients and equipment to manufacture their ice cream products.
In October, 2006 our company began offering international manufacturing franchises, available as a free benefit to prospective gelato manufacturers. We supply training, machinery, ingredients, promotional materials and support. Our franchises are offered on a no-fee, no commission basis but we require franchisees to buy our machinery, products and ingredients for the life of the franchise.
Most of our franchisees have no experience in the ice cream business. So, we must train them in every aspect, from manufacturing to promotion. This is a big job but we consider our franchisees as part of the Dream Cones family and love to help them. Their success is our success!
We have a close relationship with the Mehen Machine Company in Nanjing. China and are their exclusive representatives in Asia, New Zealand and the Philippines. We also sell machinery and complete manufacturing packages to customers in other countries.
Dream Cones has thirty-eight employees. The President and managing Director is Amornrat “Apple” Chatkul (Big Boss). She is a university graduate in Business Administration and owned a restaurant on the island of Samui prior to founding Dream Cones. In addition to managing the company and the retail division she supervises the bakery division and creates all of our new flavors.
Her husband (Little Boss), Paris-trained chef Michael Greenwald is a writer and adventurer formerly a surgery specialist in the US Army Medical Corps. He has sailed all over the world in small boats and single-handed the Atlantic and Pacific oceans. He is a Captain in the US Merchant Marine (Ret.) and is known for his books about the sea. His best-selling Cruising Chef Cookbook has sold more than 300,000 copies and is in 19th edition, available from Amazon Books. A number of movies and TV dramas have been made from stories in his book about sea survival, Survivor. He has appeared on the Oprah Winfrey show and wrote a food column for Cruising World Magazine. He has written economic articles for the Wall Street Journal and other American newspapers
