Job Title: Project Design Manager/Coastal Experience
Reports To: Design Manager
Subordinate Staff: Assistant Project Design Manager
Department: Project Services
Summary
Responsible for review and monitoring of design activities and coordination of technical issues with focus on specific projects
Key Duties & Responsibilities: (include but not limited to the following)
„X Act in a Design Manager role.
„X Have experience in open channel, waterways and coastal projects (both in terms of design and construction) as well as in the environmental issues associated with such projects.
„X Prepare Requests For Proposals (RFPs) including technical design scopes for consultants and identify design elements and deliverables to be undertaken for projects.
„X Prepare information packages for projects to issue to consultants and other project participants.
„X Evaluate consultant proposals and actively contribute in the setting up the project design team.
„X Coordinate / manage consultants, review designs (drawings, specifications and reports) and make recommendations accordingly (to ensure compliance with the client¡¦s requirements).
„X Programme and monitor progress of design.
„X Assign tasks to design team based on project needs.
„X Work with project team to create or modify design documents.
„X Ensure team is using project specific standards and that the design effort is progressing in the most efficient manner possible.
„X Ensure incorporation of best practices in building design where relevant.
„X Develop Design Guidelines and Drafting Standards
„X Carry out preliminary phasing / staging and programming of construction works.
„X Communicate and coordinate project activities with project team and management.
„X Liaise with statutory authorities to secure design approvals
„X Properly use the document management system.
„X Take personal responsibility for the quality and accuracy of his/her work.
„X Travel out of town for short periods of time as required by projects and assignments.
Qualifications & Skills
A. Education / Experience
„X Bachelors degree in architecture, structural engineering, civil engineering or mechanical engineering
„X At least 10 years work experience in related field with at least 4 years in a real estate development environment.
„X Experience in large scale and high profile projects.
B. Specific Skills/ Knowledge
„X Strong knowledge of design principles in marine / coastal engineering
„X Knowledge of computer applications required for design assignments
„X Strong coordination and time-management skills
„X High degree of competence in writing technical reports in English.
