| Description: |
Our client is seeking an SHE Manager in Burkina Faso. The successful applicant must be able to speak French.
The appointee will have:
• Hold a degree (or equivalent) appropriate to Health, Safety and Environmental Management;
• Have at least 10 years post graduate experience, with broad exposure to the Health, Safety and Environmental aspects of large scale mining;
• French and English verbal and written communication skills;
• Have a proven track record in Health, Safety and Environmental Management;
• Proven leadership, interpersonal and organisational skills;
• Excellent trainer, mentor and motivator constantly striving for excellence;
• Awareness to multi-cultural work environments;
• A high level of computer literacy in the use and application of MS Office;
• Medical fitness for the position and environment;
• Ready to live in a remote site and to work long hours to obtain the desired results;
It will be advantageous if applicants have:
• Burkina Faso, African or international work experience outside their home country, and have resided in a camp environment;
• A related post-graduate qualification;
• Experience in ISO14001 Environmental Management System;
Key responsibilities include:
• Managing a multi-faceted and multi-cultural team to strive toward “No Harm” objectives;
• Implementation of Health, Safety and Environmental practices and procedures;
• Control of Health, Safety and Environmental practices of on-site contractors;
• Making changes to realise continuous improvement;
• Oversee the preparation of reports and approval documentation for external agencies and internal stakeholders;
• Meeting and exceeding high environmental and safety standards;
• Training, developing and mentoring staff towards industry best practices;
