Grainger, a Fortune 500 company and the leading broad line supplier of facilities maintenance products in North America is currently seeking an Outbound DC Supervisor for their Chicago, IL distribution center.

We are seeking distribution center professionals to join our Chicago DC team. The successful candidate will have 2-5 years leadership experience in a high volume, multi-shift distribution center OR a Bachelor’s degree in logistics, material management, business or a related field. You will have the ability to utilize your interpersonal, employee development and team building skills to supervise a small employee population within a specific functional area of the DC. You will support Process and Operations Managers to help ensure timely and accurate order fulfillment and the optimization of resources and processes. You will utilize your strong leadership skills to create and promote an environment where employees are involved, empowered and committed to the success of the company. Major Responsibilities:
• Responsible for general leadership and supervision, including hiring, training and development, of a small population of employees in a high volume, order fulfillment, multi shift distribution center.
• Have an in depth understanding of the assigned DC processes and functions.
• Optimize staff performance.
• Ensure the timeliness, quality and effectiveness of all processes performed within a given area of responsibility.
• Effectively lead employees by creating a common vision and an understanding of the organization’s strategy as well as enhancing employee commitment through the celebration of individual and group achievements.
• Insure compliance with company, OSHA, DOT and EPA regulations with an emphasis on hazardous materials and power industrial equipment.
• Facilitate and/or lead quality excellence teams.
• Must be able to meet departmental expectations to effectively drive results.
Position Requirements:
• Must possess 2 to 5 years of previous leadership experience in a high volume, multi-shift, order fulfillment distribution center OR a four year degree in business, logistics, material management or a related field.
• Proven training and employee development skills are a must with a strong emphasis on team building!
• Effective leadership and interpersonal skills are a must!
• Excellent communication and organizational skills required.
• Must possess strong analytical, problem solving and decision making skills with the ability to drive results.
• Demonstrated competence in the use of Microsoft Operating Systems with experience in SAP and warehouse management systems preferred.
• Ability to travel occasionally to other Distribution Centers, field locations and the corporate office
