Job Description:
The Nature Kids Preschool Teacher works with the Nature Kids Preschool which is located in Discovery Park. Discovery Park is a 560-acre open space located 5 miles north of downtown Seattle. Included in the park are saltwater beaches, forests, meadows, and pond habitats.
Nature Kids Preschool:
Nature Kids Preschool began in 2005 and has already become one of the most popular preschools in the city. The preschool provides an enriching, fun, child-centered program for children aged three to five. Our goal is to nurture the emotional, social, physical, and academic growth of children by providing hands-on experiences in the classroom and outdoors. These experiences take place within a loving, creative, and respectful environment. The Nature Kids Preschool teacher will work with one other teacher with a class size of 13-15 kids.
The basic duties are as follows:
• Design curriculum for and teach Nature Kids Preschool
• Communicate effectively with parents of Nature Kids preschoolers
• Send weekly updates to Nature Kids families
• Design curriculum for and co-teach mid-winter break camp and spring break camp
• Registration of campers and preschoolers, including data entry, supply purchases, and mailings, and other office work as needed
• Create and attend fundraising events
• Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:
• 1.5 years experience working with children age 3 to 5
• Ability to work, enjoy self, and students, and keep high energy while exploring Discovery Park for long periods of time.
• Work in a preschool setting
• Degree (preferably with coursework in the natural sciences, biological sciences, or education)
• Previous experience developing creative lesson plans or programs which include hands-on activities
• Knowledge of Pacific Northwest plants and animals
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Ability to work in stressful and/or high energy atmosphere
• Smiling team player
• Great organizational skills
• Valid WA driver’s license and first aid/CPR certification

• Ability to adapt to an ever changing environment
• Experience working with diverse audiences
• Study in early childhood education
