Job Title: Project Manager (mep) Office Grade: B
Department: Project Management Team
Reports to: Directors
Job Purpose
This is a management position. This position entails the management of Civil and Structural team that may be involved in the construction of plant fabric, tanks, roads, bridges, etc to form a complete project delivery.
Duties ¡K include but are not limited to
1. Pre-contract Phase
„X Receives a project assignment from the Directors in the proposal stage.
„X Participates in preparing the proposal with the Business Development Team in conjunction with the Heads of Departments.
„X Participates in presentations to clients.
„X Participates in the preparation of the contractual agreement with the Client. Ensures that the project brief with the Client if clearly defined in the contract.
2. Project Initiation Phase
„X Defines and clarifies the Project TOR (Terms of Reference), the Client¡¦s Requirements in a CRD (Client Requirements Document), Project Deliverables and Time Schedules.
„X Arranges for, assembles and collates Objective Data such as, but not limited to:
Topographic Surveys and contour maps
Geotechnical Reports (for civil and structural elements of the work)
Existing utilities on the site and municipal services infrastructure around the site
„X Arranges for, collects and collates Subjective Data such as, but not limited to:
Facility to be constructed
Applicable building Codes, Laws and Regulations in conjunction with the Project Engineer
„X Reviews, verifies and validates all data received and ensures that all necessary data is available.
„X Prepares the Project Budget for Director¡¦s approval.
3. Design Phase
„X Prepares the project management plan using the template in the company manual and sets up all contract administration systems keeping the entire project team informed.
„X Develops the project task list to define scope of work according to the requirements of the contract with the Client.
„X Budgets and schedules each task of the project task list in conjunction with Project Engineer and Heads of other disciplines.
„X Assigns projects tasks, budgets, and schedule to each discipline and sub-consultant in consultation with Project Engineer and Department Heads.
„X Answers questions and gives daily guidance to the team.
„X Accountable for the accuracy and quality of all deliverables.
„X Monitors project tasks to maintain design budget, schedule and scope of work.
„X Carries out contract administration and ensures that all notices, requests for client instructions, approvals etc. Are in accordance with the contract.
„X Prepares and manages all the correspondence with the client, sub-consultants and specialists.
„X Carries out the contract administration of sub-consultancy contracts.
„X Prepares and maintains proper project filing, document storage management and communication procedures in accordance with firm¡¦s procedures.
„X Ensures that work requested by the Client outside the contract scope is dealt with in accordance with the contract and additional fees are agreed prior to committing significant costs.
„X Requests and obtains approval from Directors before performing services outside scope of work. Ensures team members do not render such services without authorisation.
„X Ensures issue of invoices on a timely basis and checks accuracy against the contract before issue to client.
„X Accountable for collection of past-due accounts receivable.
„X Accountable for written work submitted to the client.
„X Maintains close contact with client during the project and strives for client satisfaction.
„X Organises and manages advertisements of bids, bid opening, tabulation of bids, copies of bid tabulations to bidders, recommendation to the client, and copies of contract documents to contractor.
4. Construction Phase
„X Arranges for appointment of supervision team.
„X Holds pre-construction conference with the contractor, client, resident engineer and project engineer.
„X Monitors that construction is in accordance with plans and specifications through supervision of the resident engineer.
„X Manages the design office support during construction to deal with site queries, design changes and other project difficulties.
„X Ensures proper project handover and client satisfaction with the end product and company design and supervision services.
„X Carries out project handover procedures according to the company procedures including completion of project data sheet, construction cost summary, photographs and other promotional material, document archiving and a review/critique of the project.
„X Obtains client feedback on firm¡¦s services using a standard company questionnaire.
„X Maintains a satisfactory client relationship. The Project Manager must be able to relate to clients in a mature, thoughtful, professional and pleasant manner.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Electro-Mechanical, Civil), Engineering Management.
Preferred Additional Qualifications
Diploma or an Advanced Degree in Project Management.
Registration required
Kuwait Society of Engineers, Kuwait Municipality. Graduation from a recognised University/ College is needed to gain membership.
Type of Experience required
Minimum of ten (10) years experience in design and/or design management, including a minimum of 3 years experience in project design management with consulting firms (and not contracting/ maintenance companies)
A working knowledge of project management software is highly desired.
