Position Title: Sql Server Database Administrator
Location: Richmond / Glen ALLEN / RESTON, VA; Augusta, Me
Reports To: Dba Manager
Description: The individual will work as a key member of a nimble, supportive DBA team on transactional databases up to 1Tb.
Responsibilities:
· Migrate databases between servers
· Performance tuning and troubleshooting
· Database and server hardware architecture planning
· Schema and SQL script development
· Analyze applications at the database interface points and troubleshoot performance problems
· Develop and apply schema changes to production databases
Qualifications: A team player with the willingness to learn and teach as part of a progressive technical team.
1. BA/BS degree
2. Experience as a MS SQL Server DBA in a production environment
3. Hands-on relational database experience
4. Experience with MS SQL Server 2000
5. Familiarity and comfort with ordinary maintenance tasks, such as moving tempdb, migrating databases, changing server configuration parameters, dropping/adding users and logins
6. Strong understanding of relational theory and how it applies to production environments
**Desired**
1. Advanced degree
2. Experience with MS SQL Server 2005
3. Technical understanding of the effects of various factors on the health and performance of large, transactional SQL Server databases
