Reports To: Senior Managing Director
Description: The incumbent will lead a team of Application Engineers in Japan to best support the sales organization when selling to customers across a variety of industries.
Responsibilities:
· Provide day-to-day performance management and guidance of direct reports, leading to the delivery of comprehensive annual performance reviews. The review process requires the manager to write a review, make compensation recommendations, and develop the next year`s objectives
· Develop the critical skills of direct reports (presentation skills, product/application knowledge, industry knowledge, etc.) making certain they best represent to customers and partners
· Ensure that group members clearly define and document their yearly objectives and long-term career goals keeping them technically challenged and connected with the overall goals of their group. Make certain that the objectives of the application engineer team members are in alignment with the sales and marketing plans
· Ensure the team is capable of providing appropriate coverage for all relevant products and applications. Effectively resolve and mitigate time and resource conflicts so they do not impact the ability to meet the needs of the sales and marketing organizations
· Ensure that knowledge gained about customers (their needs, tool usage, etc.) flows to Marketing and Development organizations. Contribute to the planning process such that the needs of the customers and of the sales organization are met. Provide information and guidance that may directly impact the direction and capabilities of products
· Travel with direct reports throughout territory to various seminars, customer visits, etc. To gain first-hand insight into their performance. Effectively resolve and mitigate time and resource conflicts so they do not impact the ability to meet the needs of the sales and marketing organizations
· Manage large hardware demonstration projects that are developed within the group for Marketing and Sales presentations. Each year, assist in the development of budgets, some of which will support hardware demonstrations project purchases
· Actively communicate with Engineering Group in other locations and assist in the setting of group strategy, objectives, and direction
· Develop the technical and business skills of reports so they are prepared to address the diverse needs of customers
· Represent a team that is responsible for representing the products to the prospects and customers |
| Capacités Requises: |
An excellent communicator and mediator to act as an important link to sales and marketing. The incumbent must be capable of leadership in a dynamic marketplace with complex opportunities.
1. BS/MS in Engineering
2. Experience in managing Technical Engineers
3. Experience with Controls, Signal Processing or Communication and Language of Technical Computing
4. Working knowledge of technical computing and dynamic simulation development environments and understands how customers apply them
5. Excellent technical skills |
