The Center for Health Equity has a full-time contract position available to help us implement a grant, which focuses on community dialogues around social determinants of health. The goal is to increase community engagement through policy advocacy and action planning. The position will pay $20-$30 per hour, DOE. The position would start immediately upon finding the right person.
Community Outreach Coordinator
Hours: 20-40 hours per week
Supervisor: Community Health Supervisor
Salary: compensation DOE
Other: Contracted position
This position will report to the Louisville Metro Department of Public Health and Wellness, Center for Health Equity who works to eliminate social and economic barriers to good health, reshape the public health landscape, and serve as a catalyst for collaboration through capacity building, policy change and evidence –based initiatives.
Programs and initiatives include but not limited to:
Building Civic Capacity for Policymaking Grant Program encourages community groups to increase capacity by using policy advocacy and social action as a tool to address the social and economic policy issues that impact population health outcomes.
West Louisville Vision is a steering committee that works to develop long-term policy-based solutions to West Louisville’s challenges by forming action groups based on community empowerment, crime, economic development and youth.
Community Health Equity Dialogues uses the documentary Unnatural Causes as a tool to engage community members in critical dialogue about health disparities to increase community participation in social action and policy advocacy.
Digital Storytelling Lab works to increase community engagement policy advocacy by providing communities with tools to do qualitative research and digital storytelling.

| Capacités Requises: |
Knowledge of:
Increasing and raising community awareness surrounding health inequities and social determinants of health
Engaging community to make change within their communities
Community collaboration and developing partnerships
Community organizing and public advocacy
Conducting community-wide assessments
Community-based participatory research
Program development and coordination
Social marketing
Ability to:
Prepare and conduct health equity training programs, lectures and classes for Louisville Metro employees, volunteers and community groups at various sites.
Represent the department at community groups and other governmental agencies to provide information and answer questions concerning public health programs and services offered through the Center for Health Equity.
Facilitate constructive dialogues and generate conversations centered around social justice and health
Recruit and train community residents to facilitate health equity discussions and action planning
Work with community groups to help them develop skills to take action on issues impacting quality of life
Provide consultation and technical assistance to grantees and professionals on health related topics to address social and economic factors that impact health.
Plan, implement, and evaluate community based programs
Manage multiple tasks and or projects
Communicate effectively orally and in writing
Prepare and submit reports, grant proposals, action plans, program goals and objectives.
Work independently
Special Requirements
Must provide one`s own source of transportation and often required to work a varied schedule.
Training and Experience
Master`s degree in Public Health Education, Education or a related field preferred. Five years of community engagement and experience with conducting social action and public health training programs. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted.
Desirable Qualifications
Spanish speaking/writing and knowledge of immigrant and refugee populations and agencies that serve international populations preferred, but not required.
