| Description: |
This is a part time role for one of my major international clients to be based in their Abu Dhabi office.
Responsible for providing detailed technical advice relating to selection and uses for plant material to support world class design firms working on various projects.
Provides effective interface between design teams and Client nursery management to ensure procurement and design requirements are aligned.
Prepares planting/design guideline material for review by Public Realm team and Client prior to issuing to design consultants.
Reviews design documents from a local horticultural perspective and provides comments.
Reviews plants growing in the Client nursery from quality and design/construction schedule perspective
Assists Client nursery management with delivery inspections for plants procured externally
Assists Client nursery management to assess and ensure all plant stock is in conformance with required design and horticultural specifications at key stages of procurement, development installation and maintenance.
Review, revised, finalize and monitor the plant procurement.
Provides landscape technical leadership to ensure that design proposals are appropriate for the local environment and that design visions are realisable over time
Supports Design Managers, Construction Managers and Deputy Project Manager with technical landscape and horticultural advice, particularly during design reviews and review of contractor submissions
Establishes and maintains plant supply / stock database
Assures that all design submissions meet the quality standards set forth by the program.
Identifies and evaluates design / technical issues and problems and monitors the consultant firm’s
response.
Reports progress and any schedule variation to the Deputy Project Director particularly relating to plant procurement.
Provides input to the Design Review Manager to develop and continuously improve the design
review process and to maintain quality.
Develops baseline technical specifications for plant materials and related items such as planting medium, for testing against Consultant recommendations
Implements and follows Quality Assurance Program procedures.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Landscape Architecture required. Eligible for professional registration as a Landscape Architect.
Specific skills required
Proficient with Windows OS, MS Office Suite.
Good knowledge of horticultural practices within the region and internationally
Good working understanding of constraints imposed by local climate and geographic conditions and of appropriate design strategies and horticultural approaches that are effective in this context
Extensive knowledge of design detailing as relates to landscape construction, particularly in terms of plant establishment, and maintenance regimes required to sustain a healthy landscape
Extensive local knowledge of plant materials, their availability and their suitability for various public domain applications

Experience working with a diverse range of people from varying educational backgrounds and language skills.
Capacity for initiative and innovation
Experience
Over 10 years as Landscape Architect. Some experience in a supervisory or management position required.
