Design Assistant
The Design Assistant will work with our Creative Team to develop high-end materials for JFF on a wide range of projects including, but not limited to, project-related Web sites, advanced PowerPoint presentations, multimedia, and print communications materials from concept to completion. This is an excellent position for a recent college graduate looking to start his/her career in a high-paced, high-impact organization.
Multimedia
• Supports Creative Director in the development and design of JFF and program-related Web sites, TV screen interfaces, PowerPoint presentations, etc. (sometimes in collaboration with outside firms), including concept mapping, user-interface and usability design, scripting and programming, and research and testing
Print
• Supports Creative Director in laying out JFF print materials, including program reports, company brochures, monthly newsletters, public relations materials, and other publications; prepares print materials for electronic formats
Support
• Researches trends and test new technologies that may benefit JFF messaging efforts
• Supports the Communications Team with general administrative support
• Performs other duties as assigned
The Design Assistant reports directly to the Creative Director and is a member of the Communications/IT team.
Required Qualifications
Education and Experience:
• Associate’s degree with strong design and portfolio required; Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design preferred
Abilities and Skills:
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Strong conceptual skills and ability to think outside of the box
• Easily adapts to new technology and applications
• Ability to work independently and as a team member
• Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
• Knowledge of
O HTML, XHTML, CSS, JavaScript, and Flash
O Hosting, domain, and FTP management
O Adobe Suite CS 3 (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and Image Ready)
O Microsoft PowerPoint, Word, and Excel
• Familiarity with FinalCut Pro editing software
• Proficient in both Mac and PC environments
