This leading Hospital is seeking an experienced Medical Technologist for a permanent role based in Doha, Qatar.
The Medical Technologist is responsible for performing diagnostic clinical laboratory analyses in a specialty area specific to his competency and as determined by the Manager of the Clinical Laboratory. The specialty areas include clinical chemistry, haematology / blood banking, serology and clinical microbiology.
He / she shall ensure compliance with professional standards, laboratory safety regulations and controls, and quality assurance programmes. He shall also ensure service responsiveness, including turnaround time of laboratory results and professional advisory services associated with the clinical laboratory services.
Major Duties And Responsibilities
1 Manages the smooth running of daily operations of selected laboratory units to achieve the highest professional and service standards.
2 Prioritise laboratory requests according to criticality and ensures efficient workflows to produce turnaround times supportive of the Centre’s medical programmes.
3 Determines the acceptability of samples, prepares specimens for analysis, and performs laboratory tests in accordance with standard test procedures.
4 Ensures safe handling and disposal of specimens and waste materials.
5 Reviews and maintains internal and external laboratory safety programmes, including safe handling and proper disposal of specimens and other laboratory materials, and implementing of corrective actions when necessary in compliance with statutory requirements.
6 Performs quality control procedures, verifies, documents and validates the accuracy of the laboratory data to assess the reproducibility and validity of current laboratory methods
7 Ensures services provided by the laboratory unit(s) are in line with the highest professional and services standards.
8 Ensures abnormally high / low results or unacceptable specimens are notified and properly documented.
9 Maintains strict confidentiality and proper storage and back up of patient records and test results.
10 Evaluates and implements relevant new laboratory services.
11 Ensures that preventive maintenance and calibrations are conducted periodically on all major analysers and instruments.
12 Interacts with other staff to solve problems and interpret patients’ laboratory results within the framework of the medical technology.
13 Participates in the Centre’s Committees or workgroups as required.
14 Assumes any other responsibilities as directed by the Laboratory Manager within the scope of the Medical Technologist (Chemistry / Haematology / Blood Bank / Microbiology / Serology)
To apply you will possess a Bachelor of Science: Medical Science (or equivalent) with minimum 5 years’ relevant experience or Diploma in Medical Technology (or equivalent) with minimum 6 years’ relevant experience.
You will also be flexible and able to work shifts when required as well as being well organised and a team player.
In return you will receive a TAX FREE salary between $25k Usd - $30k Usd per annum Tax Free.
You will also receive FREE housing for you and any family members, monthly transportation allowance, relocation flights and annual flights home for you, spouse and up to 3 children.
