Position Responsibilities:
• Work closely with the CEO in establishing specific program guidelines and areas of specific programmatic interest, including fostering, supporting and assisting in planning activities that may increase the Chamber’s membership goals.
• Travel to Richmond for training to understand their processes as they will be a resource during tenure. Additionally, travel related to completing duties required of position.
• Network in the community with mainstream and Latino based businesses. Develop relationships with churches, banks, legal firms, etc. To inform and to influence the commitment of funds. Be able to articulate the vision into the multi-cultural community, strong sense of salesmanship, being a good listener and determining what the needs of the individuals/businesses are and relating that to the benefits the organization offers.
• Maintain and enhance advocacy initiatives. Responsible for monitoring Federal acts/laws directly impacting the Latino community. Updated newsletter with issues affecting businesses and advocacy concerns. Remain in contact with Legislative issues to help membership. Assist CEO with planning strategies. Coordinate Legislative committee meetings in Northern Virginia.
• Plan events in Fairfax, Vienna, etc. And in different regions of the Greater Washington D.C. Vicinity to market the organization, keeping in mind its mission. Assure that activities receive publicity and are effectively coordinated with the media. Also, develop, enhance and deliver programs to members and within the Latino community.
• Maintain effective contact and communication with other organizations, particularly such non-profits and organizations focused on the Latino community. Respond to inquiries, review requests for support, solicit proposals for specific program areas, and assist in modifying proposals to better fit the organization’s interests.
• Responsible for providing routine updates to CEO and attending/reporting to Advisory Board meetings regarding activities. Assist with coordination of meetings held in Northern Virginia offices.
• Coordinate all activities (i.E. Workshops, appointments for CEO, News and Events submissions, etc.) with Richmond office. Regularly monitor website.
• Prepare materials for and participate in the annual planning meeting, including the development of statistical reports, program documents, and trend data.
• All other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements:
• Bachelor`s Degree from a regionally accredited institution and/or equivalent combination of education and experience [required]
• Valid Driver’s License [required]
• Excellent writing ability [required]
• Solid interpersonal communication skills [required]
• Proficient computer skills [required]
• A demonstrated ability to work effectively in a diverse community [required]
• Ability to demonstrate administrative leadership and management skills [required]
• Knowledge of Northern Virginia business community [preferred]
• Membership recruiting experience [preferred] |
