Public Allies Silicon Valley believes that changing times call for a new kind of leadership. And since 1995 we’ve been developing young leaders who are committed to social change and who reflect the communities we serve. Public Allies Silicon Valley identifies talented young adults, ages 18-30, from diverse backgrounds who have a passion to make a difference and we help them turn that passion into a viable career path.
Paid Work In A Nonprofit Organization
Our Allies change their lives and our community through our signature AmeriCorps program that combines full-time, paid apprenticeships in nonprofits with intensive skills training, active community-building projections, personalized coaching, and critical reflection. We provide all of this through a nationally recognized approach that’s rooted in the practice of our 5 Core Values: Building powerful collaborations, Integrity, Commitment to diversity, Identifying and building upon existing assets; and a Commitment to Continuously learning about oneself and their place in this society.
In our 10-month AmeriCorps program you will work full time for a nonprofit organization addressing critical community issues, and develop your own leadership skills through regular trainings delivered by community leaders. As an Ally you might run an after school program for youth, offer programs for runaway teens, organize a community health fair, recruit and manage volunteers for a food bank or facilitate cross-cultural dialogue in your neighborhood. You would work at a community agency located in San Jose, Mountain View, Milpitas, Santa Clara, Palo Alto, East Palo Alto, Redwood City, San Mateo, Daly City, or San Francisco.
Leadership Training And Networks
You’ll gain valuable leadership skills, receive personalized coaching to pursue your career goals, build relationships with a diverse network of local leaders and participate in a national movement of leaders working for change.
Program Benefits-
