The Noble Network has successfully attracted philanthropic support locally and nationally, and has maintained commitment from supporters through strategic communication and opportunities for involvement with Noble students and teachers. The Noble name has become more and more recognized as a model of what is possible in public education. Noble Street takes pride in showcasing the strong school culture and rigorous academics that make our students successful. Our External Affairs team has successfully built and grown a base of small individual donors, local and national foundations and corporations, venture philanthropy firms and major naming donors, and has established programs for public relations and branding of the Noble name.
We seek a Chief Development Officer to further strengthen Noble Street’s fundraising and marketing work by building a program to secure major and principal gifts from individuals and corporations. The goal of Noble’s fundraising work is to fill annual operating budgetary needs, help fund Noble Street’s potential continued expansion and secure the Noble Network’s financial future. A related goal is to develop and maintain Noble’s brand as a mechanism to communicate the school’s success and impact in the community. A Chief Development Officer with specific experience, knowledge and proven success in the area of major gifts and the ability to raise the profile of Noble Street even further will complement existing staff members’ skills, talents and institutional knowledge, and take our work in development and marketing to the next level.
The Chief Development Officer reports to the Superintendent & CEO and works closely with him, the Chief Financial Officer and the Board of Directors to determine fundraising needs and goals and determine how those needs and goals should be expressed as fundraising priorities. The Chief Development Officer also coordinates the Superintendent’s role with potential and existing donors. S/he leads the external affairs team, which includes a Director and an Associate.

Key responsibilities
• Fundraising and relationship-building with principal and major corporate and individual donors
o Enhance the effort to meet the need for funds for annual operations, Network and campus-specific expansion and Noble’s financial future by establishing a robust, sustainable major gifts program and portfolio of major and principal corporate and individual donors
o Use expertise in major gifts prospecting and solicitation to build a sustainable major gifts program that includes principal gifts from individuals and corporations
o Build a program of fundraising events that attract and cultivate prospective major gift donors and steward existing major donors
o Lead face to face solicitation meetings, cultivation and solicitation events
• Board relations
o Educate and motivate board members to play an active role in developing a pipeline of major donors for Noble Street and leverage board relationships to secure major gifts from individuals and corporations
o Involve board members in fundraising events and solicitation events as needed
o Steward board members as donors and cultivate increased involvement and support from board members
o Help identify potential board members
o Staff the Board External Affairs Committee
• Raising the profile and increasing the value of the Noble brand as means to attract philanthropic support
o Promote the Noble name and quality by overseeing creation and maintenance of marketing materials and leading public relations efforts with an eye toward impact on philanthropic support
o Maintain the Noble brand in external and internal communications generated throughout the organization
o Represent the Network at public events and lead media relations
• Team leadership
o Ensure that the goals for external affairs department are met overall by providing leadership and planning for Network external affairs staff
o Create fundraising goals in cooperation with the Director and Associate and with the Superintendent & CEO, Board Chair and CFO
Candidate qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree
• Extraordinary and proven results in a fundraising capacity with a focus in major gifts for a public organization or in a related field such as sales
• Strong experience and record of success in establishing and executing a comprehensive and sustainable individual and corporate major giving program, and in board relations
• Specific experience working directly with donors or in sales
• Proven experience managing marketing and communications efforts for specific results
