Purpose of Job
- Provide specialist lifting equipment knowledge in design and operations support.
- Provide specialist inspection and inspection techniques for the design and operations divisions
- Act as Technical Authority on lifting equipment selection, design, lifting techniques and inspection
- Develop and Establish BSP Lifting Management System
- Be the focal point of 3rd party inspection and certification registrations approval
- Be the focal point of lifting equipment suppliers registration approval
Principal accountabilities
- Provide design input on the various types of lifting equipment required.
- Approve inspection techniques, and management systems for 3rd party inspectors and surveyors that perform certification on BSC lifting equipment and their sub-contractors.
- Develop and Maintain the BSP lifting equipment specifications and procedures (BSP and Contractors).
- Verify adherence to lifting equipment inspection standards and procedures
- Maintain communications with internal departments and external inspection expertise groups
- Identify and Apply new inspection techniques for lifting equipment
- Identify and Apply new technology used for lifting
- Identify and participate in, or lead, in lifting related incident reviews
- Support OPM/3 with selection of optimal inspection techniques
- Communicate proactively with all appropriate departments to ensure a common direction and standards
- Provide lifting equipment selection and lifting techniques expertise to other departments
- Provide on the job training and coaching for local staff GFE”s and students,
- Provide lifting operations expertise to Operations in failure investigations
- Provide assistance in formulating maintenance plans for lifting equipment
- Develop and Maintain new inspection techniques and routines standards and procedures
- Develop and Maintain trends data to observe and future projections to decide on vulnerable equipment that need more regular monitoring
- Develop and Maintain improvements in efficiency and cost effectiveness
- Develop and Maintain learning from worldwide lifting incidents.
- Support OPM/2 to develop and maintain Facility Status Reporting (FSR) and Assets Integrity Management System (AIMS) in the field of lifting equipment inspection
- DO FAIR focus asset integrity review and benchmark with other OU’s for lifting equipment.
- Develop and maintain lifting equipment inspection and certification planning, strategies and procedures
- Maintain a data base of all BSP department approved Competent Authorised Personnel (CAP)
- Do lifting audits on BSP departments and contractors
- Support other departments by participating in mile stone zero inspections

| Capacités Requises: |
Qualifications
Required
- HND or Shell approved equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering, NEBOSH, 10 years experience
Preferred
- BSc (Chartered Engineer) with 6-8 years experience
Competence Required
Experience
- Minimum of 10 years experience on the inspection, certification and operation of lifting equipment in the hydrocarbon industry
Training
- Fully familiar with international codes of practice related to the design, fabrication, maintenance and inspection of lifting equipment and the techniques for their correct methods of use.
- Have knowledge of welding and all the main NDT techniques, welding inspection, painting/coating.
- Have knowledge on failure investigation on lifting equipment.
- Have quality auditing experience, e.g. Quality Systems/Manuals/Procedures.
- Be competent and motivated to train nominated Shell staff on all elements of inspection and the correct methods of use for lifting equipment.
- Be competent and experienced in writing specifications, procedures and technical reports.
- Experienced in using a PC utilizing MS-Word/Excel software.
- Be conversant with safe working practices.
Special Abilities
- Know all aspects of lifting equipment inspection, selection, maintenance, standards and methods, and user requirements
- Understand The various BSP procedures, standards and specifications applicable to lifting and lifting equipment.
- Actively promote good lifting equipment inspection, maintenance, design and materials handling in conjunction with BSP departments, contractors and suppliers
