The Academy for Educational Development (AED) is currently looking for English Curriculum Trainers, with English subject-area and school level expertise and a strong background in training, professional development, and course design, to work on the implementation of Qatar’s Education for a New Era reform initiative specifically in the design and delivery of English professional development programs in Qatar.
AED is looking to hire 2 English Curriculum Trainers for each of the following positions: early years (kindergarten – grade 2); primary (grades 3-6); preparatory (grades 7-9), and secondary (grades 10-12). We are also looking for a team leader with the right combination of content, training, and management experience.
This Position Is Located In DOHA, QATAR.
Position Summary:
In this position the English Curriculum Trainers will conduct site visits and initial needs analysis of Qatar independent schools, establish guidelines and framework for training course development, design and implement in-depth national English Curriculum training courses for teachers with the objective of advancing their skills using the Qatari English curriculum standards, and evaluate training effectiveness. Trainers will also help develop a train-the-trainer model for ongoing program implementation.
The position is 10-months long, starting in September 2009 and ending June 2010. AED is offering competitive salaries and benefits along with housing, transportation allowance, round-trip Business class ticket to Qatar, relocation and settling in packages. Please note our salaries are based on an annual 12-month calendar basis.
This project will be highly collaborative. Our Curriculum Training Specialists will work as a team to implement all project deliverables.
Requirements:
Qualified candidates must have the have the following experience:
• Advanced degree in a field related to education or English.
• At least five years of teacher professional development and training experience including course design and development;
• Knowledge of advanced frameworks and research for professional development;
• Familiarity with the train-the-trainer method;
• Teaching and/or training expertise in English;
• Experience in curriculum design, assessment methods, differentiation, collaborative learning, rubrics, and reflective practices;
• Familiarity with the Qatari curriculum standards or ability to learn and become familiar with Qatari curriculum standards rapidly;
• Ability to adapt resources as appropriate;
• Demonstrated leadership experience in an educational context;
• ESL/TEFL certification and/or training preferred;
• Regional experience preferred; and
• Ability and interest in relocating to Doha, Qatar by September 2009
