he Energy Markets Modeler will be responsible for the implementation of Envas product development effort and model improvement program. Envas analytical models incorporate thousands of data parameters and detailed market information to model energy flows and pricing based on key market drivers.
The Energy Markets Modeler will be responsible for developing new regional models for either the electricity, emissions or natural gas markets. The Energy Markets Modeler will also be responsible for upgrading existing models with new features and more efficient programming.
In addition to the responsibility above, the Sr. Energy Market Modeler is also responsible for project management and be mentor of the junior modelers.
Qualifications:
- The candidate should have a thorough understanding of energy markets gained by working in a trading, capital project study, or economic planning environment. A Ph.D. degree in engineering, finance, or statistics is desirable for the Energy Markets Modeler.
- The candidate should know the structure of the energy industry and its operation, especially the rules governing over-the-counter and exchange-traded energy markets as well as the physical constraints on physical energy flows.
- The candidate should be proficient in quantitative modeling techniques and have extensive experience in applying these techniques to complex model development.
- The candidate should have extensive knowledge in the use of Excel, VBA and C/C++/C# and MatLab or similar software. The knowledge of database architecture is also desired.
- The Energy Markets Modeler should have at least two years experience in energy markets analysis. Senior position requires at least five years model/economic study experience.
- Senior Energy Markets Modeler is also required to have two year experience in project management.
