The European Demand Forecaster will run and continually develop and improve a proprietary, custom-designed model language that forecasts electricity demand. These demand forecasts are part of fundamental analysis of European power market drivers needed for proprietary analytical models and tools that generate daily market intelligence reports for distribution to customers. He/she will also be responsible for benchmarking results, supporting analysts and conveying basic weather and demand assumptions to customers.
Job Responsibilities
Operate proprietary neural network and regression electricity demand forecasting model.
Monitor and develop weather forecasts throughout European Regions for day-of to fifteen days out.
Issue daily electricity demand reports for subregions within the European Power Markets.
Continually support Analysts in the modeling data processes and issue multiple daily reports in a rapidly changing, time-sensitive and challenging environment.
Respond to customer queries specific to weather and demand forecasts.
Provide ongoing analysis for market analyst teams as well as proprietary analysis to individual customers upon request.
Work an early morning shift that may start at 6 a.m. (or slightly earlier) depending on market needs.
Continually update and improve process and analytics.
Develop demand benchmarking tools.
Education, Experience, Requirements
Diploma/master level degree in a related field.
Experienced user of Microsoft Excel.
Effective communication of technical information to colleagues.
Data and web research skills.
Persistent attention to detail.
Good teamwork skills essential.
Effective working level in English, written and spoken.
Preferences
One to two years of energy market experience.
Educational or practical background in meteorology.
Experience with neural network modeling and VBA programming.
Additional European languages, in particular German.
Curious personality, interested in a small but fast growing company in the energy sector.
