Position Summary
The successful candidate will provide technical leadership to a team focused on the development of leading-edge L1 physical layer signal processing software for 3G (UMTS) Release 6 and 7 standardized radio networks.
This position will involve system level partitioning, evaluation of 3rd party baseband-Radio Frequency (RF) systems, physical layer development, memory layout management, inter-task and inter-processor communication. In addition, this role will also involve investigating and resolving integration and L1 performance related issues for the Digital Signal Process (DSP) and mixed signal hardware. The successful candidate will also assist the DSP Manager in the areas of training/mentoring and leading the development processes.

Essential Skills And Qualifications
• Bachelor`s or Master`s degree in Engineering or Computer Science with courses in real-time/embedded systems, data structures, computer architecture or communication systems
• A Graduate Degree with an emphasis on Digital Signal Processing and wireless communications would be an asset
• A minimum of five years of experience in DSP development
• A minimum of two years of experience as a Senior Developer of L1/DSP code for commercial products or prototypes
• System design experience for L1 control plane and data plane, hardware and software partitioning, memory and real-time budgets, algorithm selection and simulation, as well as performance and implementation trade-off analysis
• Practical experience with embedded C programming on ARM and DSP processor families, real-time operating system (OS) firmware development, inter-processor communication strategies, producing memory management designs including overlays, buffering, managing caching, DMA access, bus latency and internal memory assignment
• Experience in systems integration and performance analysis for L1 baseband and RF sub-systems
• Experience using test equipment, logging equipment and some practical experience testing DSP code
