Principal Engineer - Special Projects Division – Abu Dhabi
Reporting to:
The principal Engineer for Special Projects will report to the Branch Manager with respect to delivery and resourcing of project(s) and outputs, and functionally to the Divisional Director.
Goal Statement:
The Principal Engineer for Special Projects will be expected to manage and deliver either multiple or major projects that are multidisciplinary in nature and coordinate the outputs of all stakeholders including Clients, architects, urban planners, specialist consultants and other divisions.
He/she will be required to make a significant contribution to the profitability and management of work and people within the Division by effectively managing in a business group. He/She must also maintain the highest level of technical skill on all projects undertaken under his/her control. He/She leads the development and training of leading edge technical skills and understands how to practically apply them in ways to add value to our services. By this means differentiate us in the market place and deliver the planned surplus whilst managing the risks inherent in our business.
The Principal is expected to be the first point of contact between Client(s) and the Division, responsible for Client management, liaison and coordination of the Divisional resources to ensure achievement of the project(s) outputs in response to the needs of the Client(s).

Technical Skills
To develop and retain the highest level of technical skill possible.
Timeliness
To understand the importance of punctuality timeliness with respect to delivery to internal and external clients, and achieve reliability and credibility with regard to meeting deadlines.
Synergise
To develop opportunities for cooperation and effective coordination between the Special projects Division, the Branch and other Divisions within our Client.
Teamwork
Ensure that all staff appreciate the importance of teamwork and to develop through team working a Divisional identity for Special Projects.
Resource Management
Assist the Branch Manager(s) and other Divisional leaders with resourcing and resource scheduling.
Recruitment
Assist the Divisional Director and Branch Manager with recruitment and resourcing of the Special Projects Division.
Mentoring & Coaching
To mentor, coach and develop staff and assist Special Projects staff to achieve their full potential and develop the project management skills necessary to effectively contribute to the Division and to facilitate effective delegation.
Continuous Improvement
Be committed to continuous professional development and learning on relevant technological business and human relationship matters.
Training
To assist the Divisional Director and Branch Manager to develop and manage a fair and effective training program in accordance with the needs of the Special Projects Division.
Business Growth & Diversification
To assist the Divisional Director to deliver the growth, diversification and strategic targets set out in the Divisional Business Plan.
Client Relationship Management
To achieve an established client base in the local market and maintain harmonious client relationships at the project and local level.
Sales
To identify opportunities and prospects and deliver agreed sales targets by taking an active role in preparing compelling proposals.
Commercial Performance
To ensure that project program and profit objectives are met and to assist with reporting, billing, and monitoring of variations in a timely manner.
Reporting
To assist the Branch Manager with respect to monthly reporting of the commercial and technical performance of the Division.
Project Delivery
To coordinate the work of the project team(s) with other engineering disciplines through liaison with other professionals. Monitor the work of staff allocated to specific group projects to ensure that technical competence and performance meet the requirements of allocated projects. Ensure that all projects are delivered on time and on budget.
Quality
Ensure the QMS procedures are followed.
Billable Time
Maximise billable time commensurate with responsibilities.
