Freedom House, founded in 1941, is a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization that promotes an engaged U.S. foreign policy; evaluates human rights conditions; sponsors public education campaigns; facilitates training and other assistance to promote democracy and free market reforms; and provides support for the rule of law, free media and effective local governance. Freedom House seeks a Project Coordinator for its Southeast Asia program. The Project Coordinator will manage daily functions of Freedom House’s human rights and press freedom program in Southeast Asia. The ideal candidate will be a local hire with solid experience and connections in human rights work in the region. This position is based in Bangkok and may be part- or full-time.
Basic Functions
The Project Coordinator for Southeast Asia, under the direction of the Senior Program Manager in Washington, D.C., will provide on-ground support for Freedom House’s Southeast Asia program. The responsibilities of the Coordinator will include: coordinating on-ground support for Freedom House’s Southeast Asia program, including logistical support for trainings, workshops, and subgrants; fomenting strong relationships with local partners and potential funders; ensuring funder compliance financially and programmatically; promoting the projects and Freedom House programming in the region; maintaining accurate financial and program records; submitting financial reports as necessary; and supervising a field-based program assistant, and other duties as needed.

| Capacités Requises: |
Candidates should possess the following qualifications:
- A bachelor’s degree (B.A., B.S.) in related field (political science, international relations, human rights, development, etc) is required. Master’s degree or law degree preferred.
- A minimum of 3-5 years work experience in human rights, women’s rights, or related field.
- Familiarity with constraints on freedom of expression and freedom of association in Southeast Asia.
- Previous experience managing donor-funded programs.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and communication skills a must.
- Fluency in one or more regional languages (Thai, Bahasa Indonesia, Vietnamese, Khmer, Tagalog, etc) required.
- Fluency in English required. |
