A major Copper producer Company for has a vacancy for the ideal candidate to fill the position of Chief Operating Officer for a contract expatriate residential position in the mining sector, in a remote area in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Remuneration will be commensurate for a senior role of this nature with a negotiable base salary plus bonus.
This position is open for all applicants (expatriates)
The successful applicant for the role will have the following profile:
· B Degree in Mining Engineering
· Government Certificate of Competency (Managers Ticket).
· 7-10 years of experience in a management role in the mining industry together with proven management ability.
· Strong mining background
· Good leadership qualities
· Be a change manager
· Be able to speak French would be advantageous
· Be a hands-on Manager
· Have knowledge of Underground and Surface operations and all surface beneficiation plants (Concentrators, Refineries, smelters)
Key performance areas includes the following:
· The development and implementation of strategies to achieve short- and long term production targets
· The development and achievement of financial and production targets
· Ability to communicate effectively and lead the management team
· Ensuring compliance with legal requirements
· Providing effective leadership and strategic guidance in respect of safety, health and environmental issues
· Ability to build and maintain a cohesive team
