Summary
Sets up, configures, and supports internal and/or external networks and telecommunications. Develops and maintains all systems, applications, security, and network configurations. Troubleshoots network performance issues, creates, and maintains a disaster recovery plan. Recommends upgrades, patches,etc.
Duties & Responsibilities
• Assembles and configures network components and associated services • Sets up and maintains network operations, including assembly of network and telecommunications hardware and software
• Enforces licensing agreements
• Develops and maintains a storage management program and performs routine backups and data recovery
• Performs network troubleshooting to isolate and diagnose network problems
• Upgrades network hardware and software components as required
• Installs, upgrades and configures network printing, directory structures, rights, security, software and files services
• Provides Help Desk and Computer technicians with network technical support
• Responds to needs and questions of users concerning their access of network resources
• Establishes network users, user environments, directories, and security for networks installed
• Installs and tests necessary software and hardware
• Perform telephone troubleshooting to isolate and diagnose common telephone and communications problems as well as interact with telecommunications providers
• Coordinate network and telecommunications modifications/upgrades with other offices
Minimum Qualifications
6 to 8 years related experience and/or training
Knowledge and Abilities
Ability to operate and support:
• Telephone, fax machine, scanner, and other non-specified office equipment
• Intel and RISC based computers
• All software utilized in the company and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Access and PowerPoint), Windows, Lotus Notes, Anti-virus software and other proprietary software.
Written and verbal fluency in:
• English • Portuguese (desirable)
Ability to :
• To respond to network or telecomm emergency calls after hours
• Work on weekends on as needed basis
• Read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, or technical procedures
• Write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
• Effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public
• Conduct a professional and respectful attitude at all times
• Perform detail oriented tasks and be able to multitask
• Perform basic mathematical operations in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Compute rate, ratio, and percent.
• Define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
• Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables
• Maintain a working knowledge of various information technologies
Education and Experience
• Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or six to eight years related experience and/or training; or any combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge and abilities
Certificates and Licenses
• Microsoft Certified System Engineer (desired)
• A+ (desired)
• Cisco Certified (required)
