We are a Play-and-Learn cooperative located in the Upper East Side. We strive to provide a dynamic and nurturing environment in which our children are encouraged to develop social, cognitive and motor skills through a concrete and play-oriented approach.
We are looking for a loving, creative, dynamic and well-organized individual to serve as a lead instructor for our children. Classes range in size from 5-7 children and are organized according to age (2 to 4 years old). Parents will be assisting the instructor on a rotating basis.
Part of the job entails planning and implementing an age-appropriate curriculum. For instance, for an art project, the instructor sets up the materials and suggests one way to use them. During free play, the instructor facilitates children's engagement with their chosen activity and encourages the use of social and problem solving skills. Other responsibilities include communicating children's progress to parents, and maintaining a safe and organized environment.
We are offering a part-time position with Monday/Wednesday/Friday from 9:00 am to 2:30 pm and Tuesday/Thursday from 9:00 am to 12:30 pm, plus preparation/clean-up time. We may offer more hours depending on the number of children enrolled. The position will start in September 2008.
