Part time (~20 hours per week)
Position Description
This position encompasses the entire first-level support matrix with some back-end server support. Very high customer service skills and communication skills are needed to be successful. IT Specialist duties include:
• Provide 1st level technical assistance to users in-person and via email and telephone.
• Assist users with ONMS standard applications, backing up user data, and setting up laptops and projectors for meetings & conferences.
• Install, configure, and maintain desktops, laptops, servers, printers, copiers, scanners, and other hardware.
• Configure user profiles for Thunderbird, Oracle Calendar, Cisco VPN, other software, and Blackberry devices.
• Maintain various Operating Systems (Windows XP, Macintosh OS X, and Windows Server 2003).
• Maintain File Server and Backup Tape Library and monitor Backup Tape Library backup status and order new cartridges as needed.
• Report network or power outages and escalate requests to the NMS HQ Help Desk and log tickets into HEAT tracking system.
• Escalate all new software and hardware purchases to HQ for quote preparation, coordinate with HQ for SafeBoot issues, and provide information as needed to HQ regarding any existing or upcoming projects (PDA encryption status reports, etc.).
• Ship machines to HQ for all new builds and rebuilds.
• Maintain local inventory or work with Inventory Specialist and practice excellent IT Security practice as well as physical security of equipment.
• Work with vendors for equipment repair and warranty status.
Education
H.S. Diploma or equivalent; Associates Degree or higher in related field, preferred.

Required Skills
2 Years of IT Support (or related support) and customer support experience. Must have experience with commonly used software and IT systems. Superior customer service and communication skills and the ability to function in a fluid and demanding IT support environment. 1-2 Years of Windows Server 2003 and Backup Tape Library support, desired. Advanced knowledge of Windows XP and some knowledge of Windows Server 2003, a plus. |
