Job Details:
Provides the highest level of specialized technical expertise in developing power electronics and
control hardware and software for power systems. Fully utilize internal and external resources to
ensure the company maintains it’s first to market place position within the power conversion
equipment field, through the development of new products and assisting in the pursuit of new
funding lines.
Responsibilities:
Carry out research in order to ensure the company’s technology road map satisfies
future market needs and maintains the company at the leading edge of available
technology.
Ensure product meets the marketing feature, cost and quality requirements
Determine feasibility of designs, considering costs, time limitations, planning and other
technical and economic factors.
Develop new, state of the art hardware and software for power conversion equipment.
Survey and summarize literature to support product development, and produce literature
for products being developed.
May be involved in the process of developing partnerships with universities and joint
ventures with industrial partners.
Develop engineering models and tools to facilitate practical and effective equipment
designs
Depending on previous management experience may be asked to lead team of R&D
engineers to achieve program objectives through effective delegation of work.
Patent new ideas
Direct and supervise validation testing of prototype designs
Work within the R&D community to promote R&D initiatives to support the North
American market and negotiate funding for R&D initiatives
Produce white papers and technical reports in order to secure external R&D funding.
Provides the highest level of technical guidance to less experienced engineers in all
groups.
Establishes, monitors and implements budget controls.
Establishes schedules and defines what resources are needed to meet schedule
requirements.
Ensures consistent application of engineering standards.
Other duties may be assigned by management to meet business needs
