Job Description:
The Director of Retail Marketing will lead the long-term strategic direction for Carhartt’s retail marketing/merchandising efforts. This position will be responsible for directing the retail marketing & merchandising teams to be outstanding at Retail Activation while preserving and building brand equity. Retail Activation is defined as: Account Planning, Resource Allocation, Execution, and Tracking.
Responsibilities:
o Lead the annual planning process for the Retail Marketing & Merchandising teams to ensure that all plan elements are delivered on time.
o Responsible for ensuring that the Retail Marketing & Merchandising teams are collaborating with other Marketing/DG teams.
o Work with Director of Research & Insights to develop the annual retail insights plan to discover key insights.
o Lead the development of team processes (e.g., planning, communication, staff meetings, quarterly reviews, budgeting).
o Work with Sales team to ensure outstanding Retail Activation (Account Planning, Resource Allocation, Execution & Tracking).
o Work with Director of Marketing to provide key retail knowledge to consumer marketing and sponsorships teams to ensure that relevant programs & promotions are developed by channel.
o Work with Sales team to build relationships with our retailer partners (become the face of marketing at retail).
o Responsible for hiring, training and developing direct reports within the Retail Marketing & Merchandising teams.
o Develop, plan and manage annual budgets for Retail Marketing & Merchandising teams.
Qualifications:
Education:
o Bachelor degree in Business Administration is required; MBA is preferred.
Experience:
o Minimum of 8 years of sales, marketing and retail marketing experience within the apparel, retail, or consumer products industries required.
o 2+ years of leadership experience of a professional marketing and/or sales team.
o Proven track record of working in a collaborative team environment.
o Ability to translate retailer knowledge into key retailer insights.
o Timeline planning and project management at a high level.
o Ability to be self directed as well as work in a team environment.
o Strong organizational, analytical, and problem solving skills required.
o Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint & Excel).
o Strong oral and written communication skills required.
o Led the process of budget planning and management.
