Purpose of Job
Provide primary Oracle (with increasing demand on MS SQL) development, database administration & support mainly for Projects.
Principal accountabilities
1. To provide support and consultancy service to IM Projects and Application & Infrastructure Developments teams (i.e. assisting development in writing and tuning of SQL and PL/SQL code)
2. Responsible for providing primary DBA administration project support for the delivery of database services within a Linux, Unix, and Windows environment that includes:
- primary projectssupport activities, (problem & incident management)
- Review and identify releases, upgrades and fixes available from database software suppliers and subscribed security organizations
- Install, configure, and test database and database related software patches, packages, and new releases.
- Perform database service management including backups, recovery, refreshes, capacity planning, monitoring usage limit, report database performance and fault
- Implement and maintain security management such as user access, roles, and privileges as per Shell standards & programme (ISIP) and Security Incident Process.
- Ensure licensing agreement compliance with DBMS and DBMS related software.
3. The database service portfolio encompasses but not limited to: Oracle, MS SQL, Database Gateways, Oracle OID, Oracle Application Server, Oracle RMAN.
4. Maintain a high level of customer satisfaction. |

Qualifications
Required
- A Graduate and/or Post-Graduate University degree in a related field of study.
Preferred
- Previous significant work experience in an oil & gas environment preferred
- Prior experience with Oracle 10G/11g and/or Oracle RAC
Competence Required
Experience
- Excellent working knowledge of Oracle 10g internals and database administration tasks in association with the above listed purpose and accountabilities.
- Prior experience MS SQL (advantage).
-3 plus years experience with Oracle 10g on the UNIX operating system.
- 3 plus years experience with UNIX shell scripting.
- Strong understanding of application and infrastructure technologies.
- Strong people and communication skills required to solicit support and agreement to plans across diverse delivery groups and customers.

-Must be able to support application development & production support of oil & gas applications.
-Must be highly motivated and work well in a team environment.
-Must be willing to be on-call and/or work overtime and/or weekends as necessary for application and systems support and maintenance.
