Position Summary
Acts as the primary lead in managing the daily activities of the Finance staff supporting Marketing Services. Ensures that timely, relevant and accurate information is available to support decision-making. Participates in financial systems and process development with special emphasis on accounting processes to improve both efficiency and accuracy of close. Plays a support role to the VP, FP&A in the development of all strategic plans, business cases and annual Goal Deployment
Key Duties / Responsibilities
Essential duties are identified by asterisks.
The management and development of the Finance staff. ( 100%)
Providing information to support budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting and analysis and internal controls. Includes creating initial passes to be reviewed and adjusted by the VP, FP&A and overseeing the entry of data into the financial system.
Timeliness and accuracy of month end closing process.
Validation/calculation of monthly accruals.
Preparation of monthly financial statements.
General ledger account reconciliation.
Identifying unusual trends or variances.
Process simplification which could include billing system consolidation and/or cost modeling.
Review and sign-off of appropriate items according to the Approval Authority Matrix.
Proactively assisting in identifying opportunities for operational improvements and cost reductions.
Coordinating with both internal and external auditors on all financial or compliance issues.
Financial support for Operations including meetings and conference calls
Financial analysis (i.e. cost/benefit, project proposals) for various projects
Managing Bank of America and American Express special billing and reconciliations
Managing several AP and billing processes
Completes other duties as assigned by supervisor or his/her designee.
Education & Knowledge Required
Bachelor`s Degree in Accounting or Finance required. CPA, MBA, Master`s of Accountancy or other relevant certification preferred.
Experience / Skills / Abilities Required
Direct marketing industry experience preferred. A minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in finance and/or accounting, to include roles in a managerial capacity.
Supervisory Responsibility
Directly manages all accounting and finance support personnel for Marketing Services.
Communication & Contacts Required
Communication required with Marketing Services Leadership team, external auditors at the partner level and below along with all levels of management. Significant interaction with all levels of associates in financial and nonfinancial roles. Presentation/public speaking experience is preferred. Periodic interaction with suppliers and financial institutions.
Decision Making
Judgment - Exercises a significant amount of independent judgment in managing the functional areas. Responsible for making financial, strategic and operational decisions.
