Our client is seeking an experienced Director of Nursing to set up and oversee the development of an exciting new hospital project in Tbilisi, Georgia.

In the role you will have the following duties and responsibilities:
Leadership/management
• Provide the professional leadership to all nursing departments
• Ensure the quality of care given to patients is the highest possible
• Ensure the ongoing and effective communication and collaboration with medical staff in respect of patient care, audit
• Be a member of the Hospital Executive Team, Medical Staff Committee, Credentialing and Privileges Committee, Infection Control Committee and others as required
• Act at all times in a manner that provides a positive role model for less senior members of staff in the hospital
• Assist as required in the establishment of a Nurse Training School
Operational
• Ensure all necessary operational policies, procedures, protocols etc are in place and in use
• Develop a full nursing process for all nursing activities carried out in the hospital, ensuring implementation, ongoing training and review
• After a Training Needs Assessment, ensure programmes of nurse education occur that enhance quality of care and the professional capability of the nurses as well as the safety of patients and staff
• Ensure the allocation of staff, duties and schedules support patient comfort and safety while being managed in a cost effective manner
• Ensure staff have the appropriate equipment and consumables to carry out their responsibilities and that they are used in a safe and economical manner
• Ensure the highest standards of infection control are applied
• Ensure that a full nursing record is developed and implemented and that all nursing records are fully maintained
• Ensure budgets for all nursing departments are set and achieved each year
• Set personal objectives for all senior nursing staff and review regularly
• Ensure an effective and efficient housekeeping service is provided across all the hospital, with performance measures, staff training, work protocols, appropriate materials and protective clothing for staff
Quality
• Participate in the design and implementation of the full quality system for the hospital
• Ensure the quality system delivers an ongoing process of continuous performance improvement that is patient centric
• Participate in the development and application of strategies for patient safety and risk management
• Assist the development of a quality ethos and culture across the hospital
• Ensure the full and proper investigation of clinical incidents and complaints involving nursing care, and assist the Medical Director in all relevant investigations
Marketing/External Relations
• Participate in the appropriate professional networks in the region
• Represent the hospital on external bodies and towards the community
Human Resources
• Build an effective and motivated nursing team
• Develop nurse staffing plans, to meet business needs
• Develop and implement tools to ensure the recruitment of best possible quality of nursing staff
• Ensure programmes of continuing professional education for nurses are in place
• Ensure the proper HR practices are applied consistently
• Undertake annual appraisals of all direct reports and seek to ensure the agreed development and training occurs
To apply you will have experience working as a Director of Nursing of a hospital or healthcare group.
You will also possess excellent communication skills and management ability with a proven track record within the health sector.
