Essential skills for the role:
5+ years of Web development experience
2+ years of developing multi-tier Web applications on the Microsoft platform in C#
Strong architecture and object oriented design skills and use of design patterns
Sound understanding .NET Framework
Ability to produce technical specifications (lightweight in line with agile approach)
Strong database skills
Good application testing discipline through use of unit tests or test driven development
These skills are not essential for the role but would be beneficial:
Proficient in ASP.NET
Experience in one or more of: SQL Server, MySQL, Oracle
Experience in developing applications focused on scalability and performance
The main aspects of the role include: involvement in architecture and design discussions, exposure to a variety of sub-systems such as the SyncML server, SMPP client, APIs for partners/developers and mobile applications, and general Web application development. The development environment comprises Subversion for source control, Visual Studio and a continuous build framework using CruiseControl. We have an agile approach to development and use the Scrum methodology to good effect.
Projects that you may be involved in could include: interface to our mobile J2ME application, our framework for integration with social networking sites, and designing a highly scalable infrastructure using techniques such as database federation/sharing.
You’ll be a key member of our Back-end coding team (currently eight people) and at the same time work closely with our four Front-end guys. You’ll also be working hand-in-hand with the Product Team who pumps out excellent concepts and designs to kick things off. Your input is crucial – everyone has their say and you can off-load all your ideas in our brainstorming sessions, which help us come up with the best features.
You’ll be based at our main office in Copenhagen (Nørrebro), but travel to our office in Cambridge, UK may be required (e.g., short periods once per month). The company’s working language is English.
The Company
Our client is a free service shaping the future of mobile social networking by storing mobile data online and bringing it to life in a social community. Our client recently launched the a Phonebook application, a next generation mobile phone address book that enables people to see their friends’ live location on a map, check their availability and time zone, share calendars and photos, and see feeds of their social networking activities on Facebook, Twitter, etc. It is a first-of-it’s-kind product and will fundamentally change the experience of the mobile.
