This position reports to:Senior Project Manager Tunnelling NSWPrimary Position Purpose:
Our client requires an engineer experienced in the design of tunnels, shafts and underground caverns. The engineer will be a qualified civil engineer with a major in a geotechnical field. Relevant experience is a minimum of 5 years and preferably 10 years design of underground structures and will be able to demonstrate experience in operating the following program design packages:
•SLOPE/W, & Swedge
•plaxis, FLAC, and Phase2
•udec
•plaxis 3d Tunnel and Flac3d
•unwedge
•strand 7
•examine
• Word processing and Spreadsheet software, i.E. Word and Excel
• Programming Software, i.E. Microsoft Project
Design work will cover a variety of construction methodologies including mechanical excavation or drill and blast, microtunnelling, cut & cover etc. Ground conditions will range from hard rock to soft ground.
The engineer will be required to work within a small professional team and demonstrate good communications skills.
• Responsible for tunnel and underground structures design work
• The associated documentation for project tasks as assigned.
Key Responsibilities
Tunnel, associated infrastructure and structural design required for projects undertaken by the client.
Work in and manage a team with tunnel engineers, structural designers, geotechnical engineers and other engineers to complete the designs for infrastructure projects to the specified standards
Ensure that projects are completed on time and on budget
Interface with the client and other groups within the company, in order to maintain a working relationship between all parties
Ensure that appropriate technical standards, QA, EMS and OH&S requirements are maintained on projects
Maintain contacts and keep abreast of developments in the industry
Prepare Expressions of Interest for work tendered by clients

Degree in an appropriate branch of Engineering.
Knowledge of design for civil engineering projects.
Demonstrate knowledge and use of software applications and design tools
