Firma: International Humanity Foundation
Job-Titel: International Humanity Foundation Needs At-Home Volunteers
Job Kategorie: Freiwillige
Arbeitsort: USA Vereinigte Staaten
Stellen-Beschreibung: The International Humanity Foundation is a non-religious, non-political, non-profit organization run by volunteers across the globe. Our goal is to empower the poorest of the poor through education, enabling them to stay off the streets and preventing them from ever being exploited. This organization supports over 4,000 children in Indonesia, Thailand and Kenya on a budget of about $8,000 per month. It is so little, but it makes such a difference. Our office is in San Diego, U.S.A., and we are looking for volunteers to help us right from their homes! We desire volunteers who would love to help this amazing cause. Our volunteers are divided into task teams in order to maintain organization and achieve our goals. Check out the following teams, and see where you would work best!

- Advertising - Members of this team help create advertisements from posters to Flash ads. The goal of this team is to compile a library of ready-to-go advertisements for every possible purpose, so volunteers can take advantage of advertising opportunities as soon as they arise. Team members also help establish an IHF advertising presence in various publications and on websites.

- Booth display - Volunteers on this team set up booths which promote IHF. The goal of the booths is two-fold: to attract new sponsors and new local volunteers and IHF members. You will be provided with posters, brochures and gift sponsorship cards for each type of sponsorship. This position may involve expenses such as printing, but an important related task is to find local people and businesses willing to offer these services for free.

- Buildings - This team helps IHF centers host paying tourists, so the community can better own and benefit from its cultural heritage. This income is then returned to the center and community. whose payment is directed back into the community. Team members also oversee the physical upkeep of IHF centers. The team especially needs electricians, plumbers, agronomists, agriculturalists, carpenters, handymen, architects and engineers.

- Cinematography - Members of this team are responsible for recording activities at IHF centers and Carol`s lectures. We are also looking into establishing an investigative documentary team. Skill in filming and editing are, of course, necessary, and team members will have to supply most of their own equipment as IHF`s resources are limited in this regard.

- Classes - This team work with all the other fundraising teams to make sure that every child and class is sponsored. Members brainstorm sponsor drive ideas and are responsible for keeping everyone in IHF updated with how many children are sponsored and still need one.

- Orphans Sponsor Drive - Member duties are to send out an e-mail once a week with the current number of sponsors needed written in the subject line. This is necessary to keep every volunteer focused on how many sponsors are needed. It is irresponsible for us to have any IHF volunteer unaware of the current sponsorship situation as it changes weekly.

- Task Follow up - As a member of this team you will work follow up on volunteers who were recently assigned a task and sent instructions. You will send these volunteers an e-mail to check that they received their instructions and are active working on the task. Your duty is to encourage and thank volunteers for their work. Good interpersonal skills are a plus.

- Community Outreach - Members of this team speak to various civic groups in their community. These meetings should focus on informing the organization about IHF`s mission and activities and getting the members involved as sponsors and volunteers.

- FAQ - Team members collect questions asked by sponsors, volunteers and others and find the answers to create a variety of FAQ`s to reduce confusion.

- Online Fundraising - As a member of this team, you will be working to find and secure online sources of funding both for IHF and its programs. Typical projects include, but are not limited to, maximizing the use of donation websites like Universal Giving, developing credit card percentage programs, and working with search engines like SearchKindly, which makes a small donation every time a search is made on it. You are also encouraged to look into the financial support possible through foundations, government funds, corporations and individual donors.

- International Fundraising - As a member of this team, you will be assisting our volunteers host fundraiser in their local communities. These can take a variety of forms. One volunteer might choose to put on a social at a bar, restaurant or home with the goal of raising enough money to sponsor a class or orphan. Another volunteer might organize an annual Fun Run and another a musicfest or an art gallery fundraiser. Some of these events might be attended by Carol or other alumni, but their presence is not necessary to put on these events. You are also encouraged to look into the financial support possible through foundations, government funds, corporations and individual donors.

- Legal International - As a member of this team, you will be researching the many legal issues which IHF faces as an international charity and finding lawyers in the various nations we operate in for help. Seeking the advice and expertise necessary to deal with these issues has proved difficult and expensive, and this team will investigate the technicalities. Many issues are complicated by the need to satisfy both U.S. and foreign law.

- Media - As a member of this team, you will be responsible for reaching out to media both locally and throughout the world, letting them know about IHF and its mission. In this contact, you need to focus on what makes IHF different and explicate its purity. You are encouraged to focus upon one of the following areas: radio, television, print media, celebrities and letters to the editor. Radio is especially important as Carol Sasaki and IHF alumni can be interviewed from anywhere in the world. Those who work on letters to the editor will be advised by Carol on current issues to cover.

- Medical/Dental - As a member of this team, your goal is to provide medical and dental aid for IHF`s children and their communities. Specific tasks include assessing the health care needs at our Kenya center, assessing the medical skills of new volunteers, and searching for financial support and medicine donations. You will also teach IHF`s communities the essentials of medicine to the point of self-sufficiency.

- Office- As a member of this team, you will be responsible for all incoming and outgoing mail from the San Diego or Melbourne office. It is important to note that no mail (e.g. snail mail renewals, thank you cards to our special donors, educational and community outreach campaigns, bills and financial mail) can be sent without Carol Sasaki`s written approval. You will also help organize local meetings.

- Online Media - As a member of this team, you will be responsible for reaching out to alternative and online media and letting them know about IHF and its mission, encouraging them to promote and discuss IHF. In this contact, you need to focus on what makes IHF different and explicate its purity. You are encouraged to focus upon one of the following areas: blogs, online magazines and newspapers, and student, travel and political message boards.

- Promotional materials - This team is responsible for creating, maintaining and distributing IHF`s promotional materials. These include PowerPoint presentations, brochures, posters, advertisements and T-shirts. Team members will also work with the Translating team to make sure these can be used in a variety of countries and cultures.

- Templates - Team members are responsible for collecting all e-mail and letter templates and organizing them, so a volunteer can easily find the appropriate one as needed.

- Web masters and Editors - This team maintains our website and develops a range of new web programs for contact management system, tracking donated volunteer hours and others.

- Students - This team actively promotes IHF with student communities through presentations to clubs and universities. Other means of promotion include encouraging related research, creating Poverty Awareness Groups, finding student sponsors, cultivating student message boards and creating an International Humanity Foundation Student Association. Members should also maintain communication between IHF`s current student members.

- Surveys - Team members collect and organize survey data regarding our children and volunteers through our pre- and post-volunteering surveys. Team members should also encourage poverty-related research for university students.

- The `meet n greet` team for new volunteers - This team is responsible for organizing monthly meetings of all San Diego volunteers to insure they are all actively involved and in communication with one another and for introducing new volunteers to IHF. Team members will need to live in or near San Diego, California.

- Advisory Council - Council members help our directors by sending them reminders about the different local and international tasks they need to be doing. Members will not need to write these personally but, rather, send out approved template letters.

- Awards - Team members are responsible for creating and establishing an original awards system, including criteria, frequency of distribution and award, for our many amazing volunteers around the world.

- Guardians - Team members are assigned to 10-15 of our children and act as their guardian. For un-sponsored children, this means finding them a sponsor. For sponsored children, it is your duty to make sure the sponsor is in contact with the child. In any case, you are also required to keep in contact with the children yourself and send them messages on their birthdays and other special occasions. Team members are also involved in gift drives to collect money, or used toys and books to give to the kids on holidays and birthdays.

- International Chapter - Team members are responsible for meeting and greeting new volunteers in their home country and introducing them, if necessary, to the Translating Team. Members should also look into the possibility of creating IHF chapters and offices in their homeland.

- Finance - Team members are responsible to check all finance reports from all centers, prepare the finance statement and working on annual budget and yearly budget for all IHF centers.
