Description
Position: E Commerce Technology Manager
Reports to: Head of Technology
Objectives:
The successful candidate will be responsible for the delivery of all technology functions including software development and application support for the e-commerce business channels and associated partner relationships. Working closely with business management, this role is essential to the ongoing success and growth of the online business, and will be responsible for providing leadership and technology direction for the e-commerce division.
Reporting to the Head of Technology, this person will be responsible for a number of
key teams:
Web Development Team – This team, managed by the Internal Web Development Manager is responsible for the delivery and maintenance of all websites user interfaces, including both the transactional and ancillary instances. In total this team totals 10 web developers
Software Development and QA – Managed by the Partner Development manager, this team works closely with our key software provider and the business analyst group to ensure the timely and quality delivery of the business driven software updates and new partner integrations. Responsible for as many as a dozen major releases annually, this role requires the management of the outsourced development team (10 developers) and an internal testing team of 8 people.
Online Technology Operations – This team is directly responsible for the 7 * 24 application support of all online transactional systems, this function is critical in ensuring the availability and quality experience of the e-commerce offerings (Team of 7 application support engineers including the Online Technology Operations Manager)
Main Responsibilities
• Fully accountable for all technology deliverables which support the ongoing growth of the online business
• Management of the delivery of all technology development projects from receipt of requirements specification through production implementation
• Work closely with the business analyst function to ensure that software projects are delivered on time with required functionality and without negative impact to website availability
• Produce plans and budgets for the online technology function
• Manage all external and third party online technology relationships
Candidate Profile:
Qualifications:
• Bachelors/Masters degree in Technology
• High academic achievement
Experience & Competencies:
• A minimum of 7 years senior technology management experience in a commercial organisation, ideally within e-commerce
• A proven experience in technology development or operations, delivery of large scale technology projects (software or infrastructure), project management
