| The College of Mental Health Counseling provides opportunities for the general public to receive affordable online training to provide professional counseling services in your community as a member of the College. After achieving proficiency in counseling within particular subject areas, the member may also support new members in achieving proficiency.
Established in 1985, the College has the purpose of raising public awareness of experiences that contribute to mental well-being and healthy relationships with self and others. The Registry is an international roster of diverse individuals committed to standards of professional counseling and to personal and professional development in counseling.
The inclusive universal scope of the College invites the general public to participate in the democratization of counseling, as a means to achieve our unique vision.
The vision of the College is the realization of a society of optimal mental wellness by making counseling knowledge and skills available to everyone.
Rather than the sole property of certain professional groups, the special skills and knowledge of counseling are the shared rightful possession of every human being. Counseling is a natural human activity, and therefore the primary mission of the College is to make this activity both intentional and effective in the life of every participant.
The mission is achieved by engaging people in the community using group sessions, distance learning, and internet consultation, in the practice of counseling and by providing a structure for increasing proficiency in three levels of membership in the College: intern counselor, full counselor, and supervizing counselor. |
