Electrical Designer
Skills/Knowledge Required
The following skills/knowledge are required:
Responsibilities:
. Responsible for the design and specification of equipment for MV and LV industrial power distribution, motor control, lighting and general electrical systems
.Executing detail design and drawing production work
Qualifications:
• Graduate of an Electrical technology program
• A minimum of 2 years relevant design experience in heavy industry, preferably in the mining, pulp & paper or infrastructure industries
• Proven knowledge of AutoCAD, Microstation and MS Office Suite (Excel, Word and PowerPoint)
• Knowledge and experience using electrical safety design codes
• Ability to work and demonstrate effective organizational skills
• Effective verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to work both independently and in a multi-disciplinary team environment
Proven track record in electrical design and analysis in electrical power distribution, including application to nuclear plants
Strong knowledge of generating station power upgrades including necessary system protection/system stability and relaying
Experience in performing condition assessments of electrical equipment such as transformers, breakers, switch gears, electric motors, motor control centers, generators and other power plant equipment
In depth knowledge and experience of use of appropriate codes and standards, as applied to nuclear plant and conventional plants.
Experience in project management and interfacing with and coordinating activities of multi-disciplinary teams.
Knowledge of the life cycle management of electrical equipment.
Be familiar with rigorous engineering change control processes and application of QA programs
Registered as a professional engineer in Ontario or be eligible
Have excellent communication skills, both written and oral, and have demonstrated a high commitment to quality.
