Job Description
As a provider of multi-disciplined technical services to the build environment, our clients Transport Planning is committed to design excellence in the delivery of first class solutions which combine innovation, imagination and best practice.
Due to our continuing expansion we currently have an opportunity for a Transport Planner to work on multi-disciplinary offshore executed projects from our Global Design Centre Sharjah, UAE.
Working in a multi-disciplinary team of planners, designers and engineers providing a professional service to our clients, this is an ideal opportunity for individuals looking to develop their international experience with a world renowned consultant.
Responsibilities
You will be part of a high calibre development planning team using state-of-the-art transport modelling software (especially Micro-simulation modelling and TRANSYT) to undertake assessments of transport impacts relating to new developments and improvements to existing infrastructure.
You will be involved working as part of a team in the technical delivery of development planning projects comprising:
The development of TRANSYT and Micro-Simulation models using specialist transport modelling software
The application of transport models to develop forecast impacts of new developments
The preparation of high quality model reports using Microsoft Office tools to support the rapid interpretation of model results by our project teams around the world
Requirements
Essential
Appropriate academic qualifications (Degree qualified in a relevant discipline: either civil engineering, transport planning, mathematics and geography)
Experience and competence in using transport planning software including TRANSYT or Micro-Simulation modelling packages. The TRANSYT and Micro-simulation modelling experience should involve modelling existing highways networks through all stages from data collection to model validation, including experience and knowledge of modelling signalised junctions. A good understanding of the latest modelling guidelines is required (especially relating to TRANSYT and Mirco-simulation modelling) along with a proven ability to be able to produce models that would adhere to these requirementas
Experience and competence in presenting the conclusions from model outputs into a suitable report format to support transport assessments
Desirable
A Masters in a relevant discipline
Experience in working on development planning projects
Experience in Picady, Arcady or LINSIG software programmes
Experience of TRICS and TRAVL or similar databases for predicting trip generation
Experience in the use of MS Office (especially Microsoft Excel)
