Job Description
To provide electrical building services design engineering expertise on single and multi disciplinary projects.
Requirements
Degree qualified – minimum requirement of BEng
Around 15 years experience working in a design consultancy at a supervisory or senior design level – some experience of working within a contractor environment is additionally welcome
Experience of working on major projects – high rise (40 stories plus)
Experience of electrical design software – Amtech, Dialux, Relux or Hevacomp
Experience of local utilities rules, regulations and design guides
Understanding of British, American and International design standards
Understanding of Mechanical Engineering principles and systems is essential
Good level of computer literacy in MS Office – an understanding of AutoCAD is essential
Excellent communication skills in written and spoken English
Good report writing skills, experience of making presentations to and attending meetings with clients is essential
Ability to manage the workload of a team of more junior engineers
Responsibilities
Staff management
Electrical building services engineering design, from concept design through to construction issue and post contract site support
Carrying out design calculations on a variety of buildings i.e. residential, commercial, educational, leisure facilities, industrial etc
Design according to local utilities rules, regulations and design guides and obtain necessary statutory approvals
Preparing technical specifications
Preparing drawings for drafting by in-house CAD team
Instruct CAD operators in all project related matters and responsible for the checking of all CAD works done
Coordinate with Architects, Structural Engineers and Mechanical Engineers and any other external design consultant
Coordinate with, instruct and supervise Electrical Engineers and AutoCAD Technicians
To understand and implement our clientsME Quality Assurance procedures and advise Engineers/Technicians
Representing our client at meetings with clients and contractors
