This is a unique residential opportunity for a dynamic senior professional to join our project team as Senior Project Mining Engineer based in the modern city of Lima, Peru. Our company is one of the biggest zinc producers and has both large, open pit and underground base and precious metal mines. Our strategy is to increase production through systematic organic growth of our existing operations and large prospect areas.
Requirements:
· B.Eng Mining Degree or NHD Mining Engineering
· Mine Managers Certificate of Competency
· At least 10 years experience in mining industry
· Mine Planning experience
· This is essential: Gemcom, Surpac, Datamine, Minesight/Medsystem, Vulcan are the keywords here
The successful candidate will play an important role in the business development of the company and will have responsibilities that include:
· Working within a project team in the evaluation of new predominantly but not restricted to underground projects and proposals, and the conversion of the best of these into profitable business units.
· Developing mine designs, shaft designs, life of mine schedules, budgets and completing feasibility studies.
· Equipment selection and procurement.
· Ensuring quality control in the construction of major mining infrastructure;
· Project monitoring, reporting and management - depending on the candidates level of experience.
· Auditing and problem solving on existing operations.
· Liaison with senior mine management, consultants.
· Contract negotiation.
· Developing sound business practices and controls within the various projects as they are handed over to operations.
The position requires a high degree of motivation and initiative, willingness to travel, as well as good management and communication skills. If you are a senior mining engineer, can speak or are willing to learn Spanish, and have proven skills and appropriate experience in -
· Managing mines or mining teams in a production environment.
· Underground mine design, this is essential to the position.
· Developing others; and
· Are a team player capable of working in a multicultural, multidisciplinary environment in Peru;
Apart from the information above it is required that the incumbent must have:
· The ability to work at altitude - above 4000m
· A willingness to learn Spanish
· Be able to fit into a team - Team player
· A willingness to adopt a mentoring/coaching role
· Previous experience working as an expatriate in another country
· A willingness to relocate to Peru for the duration of the contract to take up employment there
