Summary Description: Works with minimum supervision to design parts, tooling, system and related equipment to meet customer order specifications.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Review specifications and drawings for customer orders, and selects or designs components required.
2. Prepare production-order information and drawing package, and requisition all non-stock materials or components required for the order.
3. Select or design special tooling or fixture required for producing orders, and coordinate its implementation.
4. Maintain engineering documentation for products, components and assemblies.
5. Support new product development.
6. Provide costing/ quotation assistance.
7. Assist in other company projects.
8. Supervisory Responsibilities: May direct designers on projects and day-to-day operations. Participates in learning environment to expand and develop necessary skills.
9. Qualifications: Requires knowledge of sheet metal design, layout, fabrication and support tooling; knowledge and experience in using ProE. Canadite should have a minimum of one year’s previous related work experience.
10. Education: Technical associates degree or bachelor’s degree in related field such as mechanical or industrial engineering.
11. Language Skills: Able to read and interpret drawings, specifications and requirements, good verbal communications skills to work with shop personnel and customer representatives.
12. Mathematical Skills: Requires mathematical skills to determine inter-related dimensions, unusual contours and shapes, various angles and different planes.
13. Equipment used: Computer using ProE, spreadsheet, and networking capabilities.
14. Reasoning Ability: Able to understand customer requirements and shop operations and capabilities to prepare workable design documentation for efficient project completion.
15. Physical Demands: Sitting, keyboarding, speaking and listening; good visual acuity for detailed work.
